For the last couple times, we get invited to pizza kid birthday party, and I have to bring his own food, that is quite sad.

I hated pizza as a kid and ate everyone’s crusts for dinner. It’s still not really a favorite but I will eat it now. My kids now hate pizza and most things with melted cheese. They also only eat peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly, which I feel weird pressuring them to try)

We all have foods we love, and foods we hate, especially in childhood.

There's nothing to be more "sad" about because your child hates a popular food. If your child hated fish, you wouldn't be posting to a thread. But there's nothing more objectively "fine" about fish vs. pizza, or vice versa.

Thought the same thing. What’s so great and unique about pizza?

It is sad because pizza is literally the perfect food. Way way way better than fish! No one had a breakup and says “let me get a nice piece of salmon to fill the void in my soul.”

Mine did not like it and it was a pain to order things for birthday parties that were at places because pizza is often the only option (but some places will let you add wings).
He now likes it but only if it’s covered with pepperoni and sausage. He is not a huge tomato fan but always ate lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs so not sure why it bothered him more in pizza.

My pizza hater is currently 17.

He hates pizza because he hates bread (the horror, I know).

The most "bready" thing he'll eat is a tortilla wrap. He'll often make sad (IMO) pizzas on those as a snack.

He didn't even start liking tortillas and other wraps until he was 12! And even now, it can't be a wrap that's too thick.

By extension, he also hates cake/cupcakes/brownies. Anything too "fluffy" and "bready" is a no for him. He always has birthday cookies or pies.

I have a three year old who won’t touch pizza, grilled cheese, tacos, nuggets, meatballs, fish sticks, chicken noodle soup, any form of potato, or cheese quesadillas. Macaroni and cheese is cool but all other kid foods are not....

My son doesn’t like grilled cheese, Mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. I keep asking him for his passport because I don’t believe he is American.

I didn't like pizza as a kid. Not a big deal. But do I understand correctly that you know your kid hates pizza, still do "Friday Pizza night," and don't get him something else, such that he "go[es] starving for the night?"

You're right, that is quite sad, but not for the reasons you mean. Good lord, OP.

4yo is not a fan. I don't think he hates it, but he doesn't delight in it like the rest of us. Usually I have an easy back up for him (sandwich, pasta).

My DD doesn’t like pizza. Also not a fan of “Italian food” the American version. Spaghetti, pasta pizza etc etc.
