Last year we got in and never got a call even though other people reported getting calls.

We got in last year and got a call and an email, but not until about a week after the lottery. I spent several days hitting refresh on their website, seeing nothing, and eventually lost interest. I forgot about it and got an email (and call) a few days later.

Thanks Martin. I really enjoy your reporting. I think that DC has totally messed up its school system with the lottery. (Its not sour grape- my kids attend a HRCS.) I agree with both the proposal to give preference to nearby schools as well as at risk kids. The system as it stands is so inequitable, looking at demographics.

Would you feel that way if it meant your next kid couldn't go to school with the other one at the HRCS?

Looks like the Kingsbury location will probably not be open in time for the start of the new school year. LAMB confirmed this when we called.

This is exactly why I don't take much value in what is said on DCUM. All of you said you knew for sure that that location would be open, and it's not going to be. Most of you never know what you're talking about.

Has anyone who called know what time they expect to post the list on the website? It’s my understanding that last year it was posted same day. I believe that’s what we were told during the Open House as well. Looks like those who called yesterday said it would go up today, but refreshing the page for 8 hours again is something I’d like to avoid. It feels like LAMB is being quite inconsiderate here. There are 600+ parents still waiting to hear about a decision that is core to their kids’ lives and they are not being very forthcoming (and in some cases contradictory) about when we should hear.
