Well, we have something in common! I too often wonder how we got to this point....only I wonder about Obama's base. Who ARE these hypocrites? So there you are!

I used to listen to her in the 90s...but like others, I found her to be entirely too judgmental and really cold once her fame hit big. So the novelty of listening to her show wore off quickly.

But here's the thing about that word. Being a hypocrite is CONTINUING to do things while excoriating others who are doing those things. It's not "being a hypocrite" if you warn others against doing things you yourself have done in the past that turned out badly. That's the difference. She did do some things that she is not proud of...and that she now advises against...and she admits that and draws from it in giving her advice, actually.

That said...there are other reasons not to like her. It's just that I disagree that "being a hypocrite" is one of them.

Hypocritical: adjective. of the nature of hypocrisy, or pretense of having virtues, beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually possess: The parent who has a “do what I say and not what I do” attitude can appear hypocritical to a child.

She judges others as though she didn't do similar things in her past--hence she is a hypocrite.
