I loved her on the show where a guy called in to say that he was concerned about his teenaged stepdaughter's promiscuous behavior. Dr. Laura asked him how long he'd been married to the girl's mom. He stammered around, then said they weren't married. Yes, she was much more nuanced in the early days. I liked her show then, before her fame peaked.

Yes! I used to listen to her way back in the mid-90s and I really thought she was pretty good. But then I think she realized that being strident and judgemental was better for ratings than being reasonable. Once she got on the crazy train, she went ALL IN.

I haven't listened to her in forever though... in fact I was surprised to see her name in the heading-- I didn't know she was still on the air. Go figure.

Yes, she sometimes go over the top and doesn't give people a chance to talk. But in general, I agree with a lot of what she says.

THIS, exactly. I used to hate-listen to her. I really couldn't stand what I had heard about her, so I had to judge for myself. Much to my surprise, I found myself agreeing with most of what she says. She's not pleasant, and she's often condescending, but usually that's because the callers can be complete idiots and she's lost her patience. In other words, I don't always like her delivery, but her advice is usually spot-on.
