This was a ECNL announcement not a DA. Who knows what Arlington's DA status actually is but if they did get DA it would just rebadge the Red team. It wouldn't make a difference in terms of team composition.

The DCUM post is a couple days old but unfortunately no DA.

That's not true. Arlington families got a notification yesterday that they would in fact be joining girls da, but only for u-13 (06), 14 (05), and 15 (04) next year and also would be expanding to u-15 on the boys side. Loudoun is joining girls da, so ccl is really going to suck next year isn't it

Spirit is now surrounded by 2 GDA's (Arlington and FCV) and 3 ECNL clubs (Mclean, BRYC, Loudoun). I can hear them screaming "REMEMBER THE ALAMO" as the anaconda chokes the air from their lungs....But seriously, the DA is not doing itself any favors.

This further weaken Spirits player pool and thus their teams....which in turn will boost surrounding ECNL teams and keep their player pools in check.

The idea is to steal their player pool....HELLOOOOOOO

No 2006 or younger is focused on ECNL anymore. ECNL has cemented itself as the new CCL. Kudos!

This has been going on as long as I was a kid and they wanted to completely abolish WAGS. This has never been about kids. It's always been about adult's egos. We call things by different names every 5 years or so, but it's the same game being played over and over again. Same with the boys' side, btw. And, US soccer isn't getting any better for it.

CCL already has sucked for quite some time. Look at the results of the boys' tournament last weekend. See how many smaller non-CCL clubs were in the Finals compared to CCL teams (including the host club).

That doesn't mean anything. It's not like all CCL teams participated. There were other brackets where both CCL teams were the finalist.
