You can find a pair of black pants in Target, Old Navy, or Walmaqt. Or you can order a pair from Amazon. There are more than one concert each school year. In MS and HS, the music teachers have a handbook for students and parents. One can find all the information on concert and orther requiement so you can buy the pair of black pants in September .

Awesome. Teachers and school staff need amusing parent stories to get them through until winter break.

What gets me is the white shirts. We don't own any.

My children sing in the Strathmore Children's Chorus and have to buy a costume. Black pants are the cheapest part of the costume, since you can find it yourself instead of ordering at a premium with the company, like for the "special" shirt and tie.

My son has worn the same black pants 3 years in a row. Bought in a second-hand shop.

Black pants are everywhere including target and amazon prime.

Don't be so silly.

Anonymous wrote:Our school requires black pants and white shirts for the winter concert and band performance. As a mother of boys, I would never buy black pants but for this one night event. Instead, it would be easier if they could wear khakis since we already have those---and I feel like most families would already have khakis rather than black pants.

I'm curious how others feel about this?

I feel that you are an uncouth person. Have you ever been to a classical music performance? I guess not, but, if you have, have you seen anyone on stage wearing skinny jeans and Under Armor sneakers?

As a mother of boys, have you ever had to purchase them any kind of sports uniform? Soccer cleats, or hockey gear, or, at the very least, tennis shorts? Well, this is sorta similar, only instead of running around trying to score a goal, the kiddos stand around and sing.

I have a reason to believe the outraged PP is being sarcastic.

I love those sloppy ten shades of khakis events. ESP for concert band.

All the boys I know wear khakis (which work well for Christmas, Easter, thanksgiving, church, etc.).

Ditto for black shoes. All the boys I know wear Sperrys/docksiders (which (again) can be worn for both Christmas and Easter).

re: girls - why not simply have them wear a dress of their choice? Boys in khakis, white dress shirts and a tie (of their choice), and girls in the dress of their choice. The winter holiday concert presents a perfect opportunity for kids to wear their holiday outfit.

Omg -.are these kids ready for the future nerd dads of America club or what?
Why is your high schooler already in docker khakis already?

I remember being hit with this when my son was in preschool. For me it was the white shirt - they told us just a couple days ahead of time. Like others mentioned I don't buy plain white collared shirts for my messy son. It was a scramble to find something in store. From then on I always hay on hand a decent colored white shirt on had for DS. As for the pants and shoes, we've never had a proplem with him wearing nice plack jeans and Vans.
