| Any one hear from Midd today? |
My DD got into Georgia a couple of weeks ago EA. It was her first acceptance and she got a partial scholarship. With an average SAT of 1,390 and 75% at 1,470 I was a very impressive group of 5K kids they let in. UGA was #3 on a rather long list so she is psyched to have her Safety school that high on her list going forward. |
Congrats! What is the OOS experience supposed to be like there? |
I know it's one of the highest ranked "party schools" in the U.S. |

I’m not sure what you know except for how to promote outdated stereotypes. UGA didn’t even make the Top 20 Party Schools last year. As for the atmosphere in Athens I would say it is a really awesome College Town. I got my MBA from there in a distance learning program so I got to spend 12 weeks on Campus during my time. The school is like 88% from Georgia but sine like half of Atlanta are Northerners it is not really that Southern feeling. It’s a really stong mix of good kids, academics, sports and community. I would be perfectly happy with my Northern VA daughter going to Athens. Call the Dawgs!! |

For some inexplainable reason it has indeed dropped of Princeton Review's list. |
UGA? Ranked #1 for casual hook-ups. https://www.redandblack.com/variety/dawgy-style-uga-ranked-no-kinkiest-school-in-the-country/article_b57e0d60-5c02-11e5-a194-6f196c47689d.html

Stanford ED....rejected.
Will be a very unMerry Xmas |
Sorry--we were in the same place last year, and DD was crushed, especially given that a few kids from her school did get in to tremendous fanfare. After a day or two, she was open to discussions about how these decisions are not a referendum on your academic abilities or merit as a human being. In the end it was a great wake-up call on how dismal the picture is for unhooked kids at the top schools, and it really helped her focus on schools that were likely to find her application appealing. Hope your kid and others in the same boat get to a place of acceptance soon. |
This system really sucks. I miss the days when everyone heard everything at the same time. Much healthier, both for each kid and for the cohort. Hope your family gets some pleasure out of the holidays and college apps don’t overwhelm everything else. |
My niece, in another state did. The big R. Boo. |

Swarthmore.
Kid rejected Ed. Rejected not even deferred. |
what were your kid's stats if I may ask? I know a kid who got accepted. Not to get yelled at here, but of a certain URM ethnicity. |
Two friends of mine had kids accepted from MA. Both athletes, football and track. With no hooks it’s hard! |
