Mazel Tov.

My kid did too. Didn't you love that sweet admissions video they sent?

DC liked that AND the little cardboard virtual reality viewer they sent.

I liked the $40K scholarship letter even more though

Wow! That's great. We did not get that letter, unfortunately.

Came a month later than the admission letter...

Thanks. So there's hope!

Our DS completed four applications during the first week of September and had all four acceptances by the end of the same month.

I benefited from QB several years ago (was admitted to several partner schools, though I went elsewhere), so you're right that I'm not a casual observer. They are based in Palo Alto, CA.

I've never heard of QuestBridge before. I think the idea of getting poor smart kids hooked up to go to top universities is fantastic. Doesn't look like it's URM, just low SES and smart. Kudos to them.

No is not fantastic, actually is kind of stupid to push role to leave in unreal world....

It's like taking a homeless to a fancy hotel and restaurant for a day and then send it back to the street...

I somewhat agree. My DH come from a lower middle class background and my MIL just wanted an IVY to get the mother of the century award. They spend a small ingerited

Inherited fortune to pay for it. DH was young, had no saying in it. He is a very technical guy not liberal arts focused. Wasn't a good fit by any means.

Sounds as though he could have used the help QuestBridge offers in navigating the system, including finding the right place for you and learning how to succeed there.

Super weird how anti-QB the poster before you is.

If you put it that way, he probably would have profited from their services. Thanks for pointing it out.

"Taking a homeless"?

Try harder, please.

WTF? I came from an LMC background and went to Harvard. Some culture shock, but no problem accessing (and continuing to benefit from) the resources the school had to offer. It’s hardly a vacation from real life — it’s the foundation for a different kind of life.

Same for me.

I am deeply saddened (sickened) by the ignorance and elitist tones of some of these posts. I am so grateful for the work of organizations such as QB and wish all of their students the best.

Yup. A few kids in my son's high school just got QB matches. They were pretty spectacular kids.

This thread should be retitled "QuestBridge"

Yes, I had read a few pages a few day so ago before abandoning it, but then just now Saw the “interesting” title, and clicked in.....forgot it was about Questbridge.

And University of Pittsburgh!

I think the thread just got started early for most people, even if the students are applying ED.

Next week, though . . .
