Is blonde hair more attractive?

I'm a natural light blonde. I have fair skin and can look washed out because there isn't much contrast. But when I've talked about going darker with friends they all say I shouldn't. Funny, I'm sick of my hair color but because others "pay a lot of money" to have hair like mine I'm not supposed to change it.

I'm the first one to admit society has a weird worship of blondeness and I think it's lame.
