Is blonde hair more attractive?

I was a medium blonde as a child but medium brunette by my teen years. I look 100% better as a medium, "natural" blonde. I've tried going back to brown (and red and other things), but not a single person in my life cares for it or thinks it looks natural.

I think it has less to do with "matching skin tone" but more to do with the fact that blonde hair is a signifier of youth because many children have blonde hair that turn dark over time.

Youth / fertility = beauty. Many people who are bottle blondes wouldn't get a second look without the fake color. Think Gwyneth Paltrow; she's naturally a brunette. If you look at pictures of her as a brunette she looks nowhere near as good as when she has blonde hair.

You look better as a blonde because it makes you look younger than you are. The fact that you were blonde as a child doesn't mean that your bottle blonde is somehow more natural now.

This is why personally, I think that brunettes that are beautiful are actually beautiful. Many blondes that people deem as beautiful or pretty really aren't. But natural blondes that make their hair darker that are still beautiful are actually beautiful.

Agree with this. Lots of bottle blondes, whether highlights or not, get noticed because of the hair color. Picture them with dark hair and they would not.

True, Lively's looks are all about her hair and body. But her hair looks naturally blonde, healthy, thick, and long, not overprocessed.

I agree. I think in America blonde hair = young hot woman. Details need not apply.

There is something beautiful about blonde hair because its light gold and shiny! Women who are blonde become shiny pretty objects.

I used to think so, had bleach blonde hair for years. Only when it was beyond fried and I had to save it did i go back to my natural color which was blonde-as-a-kid turned dirty blondeish brown. I look back at pictures now and think the blonde just looks so harsh and bad compared to my natural color. Hair is healthy again too.

Anyway if your hair is naturally blonde you probably look great. If not, it's not necessarily as attractive as you think it is. But if you love it, go for it.

I'll bite too. I was a natural blond. White blond as a child and medium blond for the rest of my life. I never needed a hair color because every summer I would get a natural highlights from the sun.

At age 34-35 -- my hair became dull. Just not a pretty blond color (I guess it was aging). I added few highlights.

At age 45 -- got tons of grey hair that highlights would not cover. I am coloring it all over in a lighter blond shade with some highlights.

I know a lot of you might not like it, but what are my other options:

- go grey? i don't have that nice silver shade of grey, so it looks awful on me.
- go brown? it looks terrible with my light skin and light eyes, blond eyebrows and eye lushes.

Yes, I do look like a bottle blond now and I totally like it. I've never been in a category hot or beautiful, I have attractive face and body. My point is I am coloring my hair for other reasons than to be hot or beautiful or to get extra men attentions (I've been married for almost 20 years).

Also many white women go super blonde as they get older because the color (or lack thereof I suppose) hides the grey/white better. As someone who has visible roots every 2.5-3 weeks, this is not a small matter.

Isn't Blake Lively's "it" factor more about her Gossip Girl role and the fact she's girl next door looks with really good style? She has no career. Mischa Barton could have been Blake Lively but she became a druggy trainwreck.

On some women yes and others no; I only have problem with women who feel the need to lie about it.

Whoa Paltrow and Johansson looks soooo much better with blonde hair. It's kind of amazing. They are so plain with brown!

Blake was smart to marry an older more established guy and pop out her kids when she could.

And Beyoncé needs to get rid of hers; she does not look good with it

I think natural red hair is the most beautiful of all. There is nothing like a rich auburn hair color.

+1

Non-white brunettes do NOT look good blonde. I always see Persian women walking around in bleach blonde hair and cringe.

My husband prefers brunettes. I am a natural dark blonde. Oh well!
