APS - how to advocate for fourth high school now

Raise your hand and voice your support for the Kenmore option, noting that it is the only option that creates a pathway to the 4th comprehensive high school that Arlington will desperately need.)

What kind of idiot sues to get their kid into a lottery-based public school?

Seems like if you have that kind of money.....

If someone starts a petition, could they post the link here? I am not well spoken enough to write something that will be taken seriously but will sign something advocating for the kenmore option if it would help

A woman on AEM earlier this weekend posted that her 2E child who didn't get in via the lottery so she sued because her child wouldn't be able to handle a huge HS. None of our kids really probably handle a massive HS well, so should we all sue?

All the better! Be genuine and say what you believe. It helps to write your question on paper before and practice (I do that because I get really nervous). You must speak up. They try to brush off Kenmore as only favored by a few people. If more people do not speak up, we will have 4000 kids at W-L. And no 4th comprehensive!

Wait, what? Has that been removed and is that what all the posts were about posting guidelines and civility? I wasn't really online this weekend so maybe I missed it.

No - that lady just posted again. Sounds like a fairly complex situation.

I believe since 4 out of the 5 spots from our zone in the lottery were given to students whose parents claimed a need--bullying (they haven't started school yet!, gender issues, etc.). I'm convinced that place is so filled with snowflakes that it would be detrimental to a normal kid's development.

Please tell me who is in favor of expanding WL to 4k seats? I don't think anyone is advocating this.

The school board. 2600 seats now plus a 1300-seat freshman academy or choice program. Sure, it would be a school within a school, but it would feel s lot like going to school with 3,999 other kids.

It is still a 4K seat school. Those Freshmen are most likely future WL sophomores--in addition to the Freshmen already there.

Like the shit they did to get people to unknowingly vote for the $80million aquatic center--they are clouding the issues so that it will not seem like the 4K student school it wmreallyvwill be.

They have made it clear that the 9th grade academy is going to be for WL zoned kids only, so get ready for rezoning that sends half the county to WL.
