YEp. Same reason Hillary did not win the Presidential election : too many over-educated liberals that can't focus on the main issue and getting hung up on minutiae.

The Board is ridiculous--both County and School boards.

OP here - thanks for all of your responses. So it seems that maybe a petition may get their attention, as well as going to the caucus and board office hours.

I am just shocked that eductors could think that a 4,000 kid school would be good for high schoolers. That's bigger than many colleges!

There are repeated studies that once a HS tips over 3,000--test scores go down.

I would not want to sit through a 1,000 person graduation. Omg.

It's not a 4k student school, stop being dramatic.

So bogged down in group think, faux egalitarianism, narcissism, and the fetishization of "choice schools." I used to think APS was better than FCPS. Not so sure anymore.

I voiced this to friends and neighbors a decade ago who were blindly voting for anyone with a "D" after their name. Things got out of hand because people were voting without being educated about the people they were ceding authority to

These f@ckwads took their own personal platforms and ran with it against the interests of the people they represent.

Bravo Arlington.

^^ and I should add I did vote Democratic the last 3 presidential elections.

Local government is not the same. It's important to know the facts about the people you are electing.

This County is filled with lemmings though. No original thoughts. They all just follow their neighbors and are so self-absorbed and caught up in shit that doesn't matter. They do what everyone else does. If a petition circulates, they'll all sign it without thinking about what they are signing.

I don't know.
I think because it is such a well educated county, most people assume things will be handled properly. Everyone is busy sitting in traffic and shuttling kids to and fro.
I think most just assume the county gov't will do the obvious thing. Yet it is proven time and again, that isn't necessarily how is plays out.
Personally I think it tracks back to the ACDC. They set the agenda and I think most homeowners would be surprised at those priorities. Special interests really run the table.

I agree. But, I used to turn red in the face telling these people that you CAN'T trust them. I would educate them and tell them to go to the local elections and I'm a full-time busy working mom with kids in multiple travel sports and I still could stay informed.

We are where we are because of the blind trust everyone put in these elected officials. It's ignorant. Democracy only works when those with the vote engage.

Well-educated with zero common sense or balls.

Not an orange shirter but in the group affected. I would be thrilled to have Kenmore location be a high school but only if comprehensive. I don't think my kids would be interested in a specialty program and/or not having access to full menu of activities and sports.
