I have called the police for this in the parking lot of a Giant. I,would call the police if I saw a man hit a woman, so why would it be okay for an adult to hit a child? |
Could you be more condescending? I've seen far more abuse from 20-something parents who aren't fully mature than from 60-something grandparents who have been there done that. That doesn't mean that I think that 20-somethings should not be parents or take on childcare duties. |

Aww, are you the "grandma" who abuses kids? |
You're right, I WOULD call CPS, which is the appropriate reaction to someone who slaps a toddler and then shows no remorse. FYI, it doesn't have to be illegal for CPS to get involved, and there is likely way more going on at home. |
Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. Have the people defending this really thought about what they are telling others to ignore, and thereby accept? Why should it be okay to hit anyone? Children are one of the most vulnerable and defenseless populations, with the least immediate recourse to get themselves out of a bad situation. Why would we teach them that the people who love them most might physically hurt them, or that the appropriate way to modify behavior is to hit? |
I think we know why the world so messed up. These awful worthless parents on this board and so many others like them. |
For all you people who plan on calling the police in situations like this: Montgonery County police won't do anything unless they see it themselves. I once called the police when I came out of the hardware store in Kensington. There were 2 toddlers and an infant locked in an SUV on a summer day (windows up). I called 911, reported the license plate number, took pictures and video. The dad eventually came out of the store and drive off about 2 minutes before the police arrived. I told the cop everything and he said they can't do anything without police witnessing it. I even told him I had pictures and video, but he was not interested in seeing it.
Now, would the mall security camera have caught this? Maybe. But I doubt the police would have been interested in pursuing it. |
I don't slap my kids, but I really don't think this is CPS worthy. |
The police won't do anything. CPS will look into it. If it really was a one off thing, they won't do anything. But people who smack kids around in public tend to do much worse at home. Dollars to donuts this family is known to CPS. |
If slapping a 2 year old in the face in public isn't CPS worthy, what is? |
Who are you people? Hitting and spanking children is a terrible form of discipline. She should not have had the children with her if she can't control her anger and provide proper care. |
I do think it is CPS worthy. I have never hit my children. |
Wrong the little girl learned nothing but granny vented her frustration. That is the only outcome of that situation. You need to educate yourself! |
