My son is Gabriel, the ONLY boy's name DH and I both liked a lot. Agree that boy's names are tougher. There doesn't seem to be as much middle ground between the classics and the ones that someone, somewhere will think are trashy. (E.g., Hunter, which a PP nominated and which I don't hate either).

Don't do Henry if you're looking to avoid trendy. I know at least five between the ages of 1 and 5.

Henry: too popular
Isaac: reminds me of the baby daddy on Teen Mom
Sebastian: "s" sound
Owen: sounds weak
Caleb: don't hate, but sounds redneck
Charles/Charlie: Charlie is now a girl name
Nolan: I was a teacher and had a bratty kid with this name
Noel: ?
Zachary: "S" sound
Xavier: "s" sound and too feminine
Theodore/Theo

OP here. Comments above. Not to nit pick, but just to give an idea of my thoughts!

That is too bad. My 7 month DS is a Nolan. Love his name.

OP here. I truly appreciate the suggestions! You've got my wheels turning, at least.

It seems like boys names are either boring, trendy, or nerdy. Does anyone find so many boy names to be dorky? Colin, Neil...they just sound so dull to me.

As for trendy (Woodrow, Everett, Emerson)...we aren't trendy at all.

And maybe I've dated too many guys but that rules out a lot of names! Evan, Patrick, Clay...

I'll probably start a new thread and get reactions on these names:

We strongly considered Caleb - you know it's Biblical, right? Furthest from redneck IMO.

Not to name names, but I think that a LOT of biblical names have a redneck connotation!
