There are no boy names that I like.

What about Griffin?

Kind of for fun, my husband and I downloaded the app called Babyname which allows you guys to both swipe left or right on names and tells you when you have a match. Even if you don't do it with him, there are just a ton of ideas in there, so it might give you some inspiration?

OP here. We, too, are waiting until birth to find out what we're having. As for asking my son, he's only 12 months.

Ours neighbors dog is Griffin.

I'll get that app! Thanks!

Nathaniel?

Luke is a good option.

My DS is named Carter. I've seen negative comments on it on DCUM but we get compliments on his name often. There is only one other Carter at his fairly large elementary school.

I'd always imagined I'd name a son Luke Adam (then it turns out my DH really didn't like the name). I think they're both great names. I also really like the name Kevin.

My son is named after one of DH's grandfathers and one of my grandfathers. The significance of the names made names I was just eh about more attractive. DS also seems to like knowing the history of his names.

In the under 5 set, I know 3 little girls named Charlotte, nn Charlie. I know zero little boys named that.

I know and have seen exactly what you're talking about, but I think OP could name her kid Charles and call him Charlie and the world could follow along just fine.

Yeah, this. It is "trendy" as a girls name but still "classic" as a boys name. It isn't equivalent to Lindsay or another male name that is now almost exclusively female.

Personally, I wouldn't want to name my son anything that is also a girls name.

I think these are all solid choices OP. You can't go wrong with any of them.

The trouble with Luke is that it's my brothers name. He's still living; we aren't particularly close but not enemies. The child wouldn't be named after him...it'd be more like "we like the name, too!" Otherwise, Luke is perfect: masculine, biblical, strong, no S sound. We are on the fence about using it though.

That's where Mark comes in: masculine, biblical, strong, no S sound.

Also, if you haven't tried it, nymbler.com is neat. You can plug in names you like, and it will spit out suggestions based on those names.

He! I meant the one inside you! I say my children named themselves (cuz I'm a weirdo). DS told me his name the week before he arrived. I'd never heard it before or met anyone by that name. DD told me her name after the sonogram confirming her sex. I'd been toying with the name River. She didn't like that. So, ask the baby! See what he says. You might be surprised.

The list you have above is full of lovely choices. All of them! Strong, beautiful names.

Oh. I wouldn't do this. It's kind of weird to have a child with the same name as your sibling, particularly if you aren't even close to the sibling.

My brother was named after my grandfather, so the name has meaning to me as well, obviously, but it would have been super weird to name my son the same name. (Even more so after he arrived and he could be my brother's kid he looks so much like him as a child.)

We liked and didn't use (for various reasons like already having another child with the same first initial, too matchy match with our last name, etc.)
