Relative came to work on our shower and stepped inside the shower with his filthy dirty shoes on.

OP, consider this. Have someone in your shower in socked feet or barefoot is riskier TO YOU than having them in there with shoes on. Not only can they drop something, but is not uncommon for guys to have athletes foot or some other type of foot fungus. So you are actually trading one risk for another more probable one. IMO

Nobody, but nobody, is going to get a foot fungus from standing in a bathtub that

1. first somebody with a foot fungus stood in, while wearing socks
2. next somebody cleaned

Do you not know that bird droppings can cause diseases in humans?

Was he covered in bird droppings? If so, why didn't you make him strip down to no clothes before he set foot into your house?

Also: Who in your house is licking the bottom of the shower?

Also: Do you own any cleaner? Maybe clean once he leave?

If I were your relative, the minute you used whatever tone of voice went with the caps on "UNACCEPTABLE" I would have packed my things and left.

#1 Not 100% accurate but believe what you want. But to your point #2, if you are going to clean the tub/shower anyways, why would care if someone is wearing shoes?

+1000. He wears those shoes too because of safety precautions. Don't you know that this is part of normal protective gear? You are an idiot and a control freak. Bleach is your friend and only costs $3.99 a gallon.

Agree.

I think we all know that if your relative had taken his shoes off and completed the work in stocking feet you would have come here to complain about how he stepped in your shower with his stinky socks on.
Some people will always find a reason to complain. And, then post their complaint on an anonymous board.

Do you want him to bring flip flops? Go barefoot? I'd just be greatful for his willingness to help. Find a meditation class and practice.
