Relative came to work on our shower and stepped inside the shower with his filthy dirty shoes on.

OP If you have ever been around workmen you should thank your lucky stars that is all he did. The phrase "bombing the bowl" means a workman did a major dump in your toilet and left it there because you annoyed him.

I like "sack-job" better, PP. You may have just created a new DCUM term!

No way I would ask someone to get their feet wet doing work like that. Or risk dropping a tool on their foot.
You get in there with your dirty a*** and it gets washed doesn't it?

The cable guy caused me to be this way. He came to fix the internet connection on a rainy mud filled yard day then had the nerve to walk on my beautiful CLEAN rug with his damn dirty boots. He got my attic stairs dirty too.

I don't care about the floor, I care about my rugs. It's expensive to clean and I can't afford more than one.

I seriously hate anyone that doesn't think before they enter so yes, you get the covers on or get out.

I don't understand. Wasn't the cable guy there because you asked him to come? It's not like you're not doing him a favor by allowing him to fix your cable. If you don't want to get your cable fixed because your clean rugs are more important, then don't get your cable fixed!

Shoe covers. Get some from the Home Depot, present them to workmen at your door. Have a few extra pairs for when they burn through those ones. Done.

You just proved you are clinically insane - blaming every body else for your hang-ups. Always playing the victim. Everybody's out to get you aren't they, OP?

You should know by now that contractors and repair people keep their shoes on. Roll up the expensive Persian like EVERYBODY ELSE DOES when they come. Do you think you're the only one who has nice things and doesn't want to get them dirty? Think again. We all clean up after workmen, and put away precious things. If you can't put them away, you have to be ready with shoe covers, and plenty of them.

Go to a therapist for your rigidity and anger issues. Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes!

Um, you shouldn't have to spend $800 to get your carpets cleaned because the cable guy comes to fix the cable. He should be less clueless and bring out his own shoe covers on a muddy day.

That's hilarious - so they save up some 'bombs' just for people that annoy them? Like 5th graders but smellier?

What? You expected him to stand in your tub in his socks? Really? What if he dropped a tool or something on his foot?

Maybe he should be, but evidently he wasn't.

However, if you want ask the cable company to reimburse you for your $800 carpet-cleaning bill, go ahead!

You're nuts. You asked for someone doing manual labor to do it barefoot? That's a safety issue. If it is free, you are even more out of line. You do know that showers have water attached to them, right? Meaning a shower is about the easiest thing to clean. Do you lick your shower floor routinely or something?

Hahaha. Seriously. PP, if you want him to wear shoe covers, YOU provide them. It's your issue, not his. Fix your own cable otherwise.

Well, it's good you don't care because you are nuts. I'm amazed you have family willing to do you any favors. You need therapy.

You're crazy. You don't have a problem with him walking all over your floors but you do when it comes to your shower which is so easy to clean up? You're an idiot. Also, a douche for expecting him to work without safety precautions. Asshole.

We keep shoe covers for the house in general. If we run out, then I just clean up after the workmen like I would do anyways. Easy Peasy

OP, consider this. Have someone in your shower in socked feet or barefoot is riskier TO YOU than having them in there with shoes on. Not only can they drop something, but is not uncommon for guys to have athletes foot or some other type of foot fungus. So you are actually trading one risk for another more probable one. IMO
