Ugh, can't listen to Morning Edition anymore

Seems pretty low level harassment with two incidents at NPR and two when Oreskes was at the NYT. Mary Louise was ultra dramatic today on 1A and complaining about that other media reported Oreskes firing before anyone at NPR knew

She seemed less concerned about the harassment and more about missing a scoop

I haven't listed to NPR since they fired Bob Edwards.

So true.

One of the Davids on Morning Edition drives me nuts with the way he does this sort of inquisitive inflection to his voice when speaking.

Low level except for the part where he shoved his tongue in two women’s mouths.

What constitutes egregious?

Mary Louis Kelly's voice is so ugly! It really grates on me. Zoe Chase comes in a close second

I'm not listening to Morning Edition until they bring back Bob Edwards.

Why do public radio hosts all sound the same? Why do all classic music station hosts all sound sleepy?

They all sound snooty to me. "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?"

I agree, the sing-songy of it is so annoying.

I do love, love Oefebia Quist-Arcton (or however that's spelled, I think I'm close!). I just adore her accent.

I'm PP. Oh my goodness, I do love her voice and accent so much. I admit I had to Google her because I didn't recognize the name, but I do recognize the voice. I'm also a fan of Eleanor Beardsley, the French correspondent. (I might also be just a little bit jealous of her job.)

Don't forget Sylvia Poggioli!

Eleanor Beardsley is another Arlington girl who did well in journalism. Her spouse, Ulysse Gosset, iss major French journalist.

That horrible twang did not come from Arlington.

You're right; she's from South Carolina.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! I have listened to NPR since the 80s and it was so professional. Now? What IS up with the 'hmmmmm's', 'huh', etc. during a guest's talking?? It is SO distracting!! And how about when they talk WAY up high at the end of their questions? (David Greene, Steve Inskeep - many others)? I can't stand Rachel Martin - over the top dramatic voice (when called for) and that cutesy voice - SO irritating plus her CONSTANT hmmmm's and huh's . . . between Steve Inskeep's giggling and all the of the rest - I can barely listen anymore. Bob Edwards and Diane Rehm were such class acts . . I still miss them. But there are a handful that still have that air of professionalism about them - otherwise I wouldn't listen at ALL.

why does everyone at NPR have such strange names?

The "weirder" your name, I think the greater your chances of being hired. Our local metro area seems to seek people out with hard to pronounce names or names impossible to spell phonetically, probably in an attempt to look super diverse. They don't usually last long, for whatever reason. I'm not sure if it's window dressing by the station that the employees see through or of its just a matter of favoring a random younger person with a weird name over someone with a normal name who is more qualified and dedicated.

WAMU seems to be the training ground for other public radio venues.
