Ugh, can't listen to Morning Edition anymore

Wow, some posters are really very critical about the things that don't matter, like voice timbre.

About the things that DO matter, like intelligent coverage, NPR is the best thing out there by long shot, but it doesn't mean it's excellent, unfortunately. They're a bit wishy-washy and could be more rigorous.

The rest of the news world is just SO INCREDIBLY BAD.

That is ridiculous - of course the voices matter. It's RADIO, not print. A very unattractive person is generally not going to host a TV show. ML Kelly bothers me, just like EJ Dionne's lisp bothers me. I still listen to NPR.

I agree, the sing-songy of it is so annoying.

I do love, love Oefebia Quist-Arcton (or however that's spelled, I think I'm close!). I just adore her accent.

I'm PP. Oh my goodness, I do love her voice and accent so much. I admit I had to Google her because I didn't recognize the name, but I do recognize the voice. I'm also a fan of Eleanor Beardsley, the French correspondent. (I might also be just a little bit jealous of her job.)

Don't forget Sylvia Poggioli!

Mary Louise Kelly sounds like she has a chronic sinus infection. She truly has a voice for newspaper. Unbearable.

I switched to the Times podcast The Daily - love it!!!

Wow. I've listened to NPR my entire life (WNYC when I was a kid, and WAMU for the last 10 years) and I really haven't ever developed such strong opinions about the hosts as all of you. I think all of them present their reporting in professional, objective ways.

My only pet peeve is how Soraya Sarhaddi Nelson says her name. She always reallllly drags out Sarhaddi Nelson, and I don't understand it. She says it like "Soraya Sarhaddi Nnnnnellllson." It's weird.

Why resurrect an old post? You must be the OP.

I LOVE Eleanor Beardsley's voice/accent. Neda Ulaby is the one who drives me nice. (And Zoe Chace, but is she gone?)

I love NPR and Morning Edition, but Mary Louise Kelly needs to UNCLENCH her jaw. I ache every time I listen to her speak. How she can talk for an entire segment while clenching her jaw so hard is beyond me. Doesn't NPR pay for speech therapy or relaxation techniques?

Sorry, but did you hear her interview NPR’s CEO yesterday and rake him over the coals for not having acted promptly to remove a serial harasser? She KILLED it.

Mary Louise is my hero.

I see you didn't read the thread. I'm 9/8 at 23:33 who said the same thing.
