Give me a break. I live off Tuckerman, and I use them interchangeably, as do all my neighbors. Only a bunch of bored, judgy people on DCUM care how I get mail sent to my house. We don't live in either Bethesda or Rockville, and don't get any city services from either, so what does it matter? I've described where I live as "south of Rockville" or "near White Flint"- is that pretentious too??

+1. Look at the official addresses for Strathmore, Georgetown Prep, Academy of Holy Cross, Grosvernor metro, addresses along Tuckerman, etc. -- it's a mess of Kensington, North Bethesda, Rockville, and sometimes weirdly just Bethesda.

Ha I am in the same boat, I live in 20854 but my address often comes up as Rockville MD 20854. To make things even more confusing, there are parts of 20854 that are technically in the City of Rockville, but they are still "Potomac, MD 20854." I live in the part of Potomac that is NOT part of the City of Rockville, but it still often comes up as Rockville 20854 when you search for my address online.

Considering that 20814 contains 95% of Downtown Bethesda, Edgemoor & Battery Park... No, it sounds wrong.
