Yes it was like this |
|
C/O 90 and yes we had a smoking area. Midwest
H-B Woodlawn in Arlington, graduated mid-90s. There was a designated "smoking tree" by the parking lot (at one point I believe this was even written into the schools bylaws), although the entire upper parking lot was more or less the student smoking section.
yep. but this was in Winston Salem, the home of cigarettes! got rid of it probably around 1990? We also did a yearly school field trip to the cigarette factory from probably 1st through 4th grade. the joys of seeing cigs being made!!
Graduated '88 in Illinois. No smoking area.
Graduated in '83. NO smoking allowed in the school (except in the teacher's lounge). The students had to go outside to smoke.
Mine sure did. It was separate from the teacher's smoking area. I graduated in 1992.
Graduated in 88 from a HS in Arizona. There was smoking section for the students. At the time I could not believe it.
Right. There was a certain corner of the campus where all the freaks gathered. (That's what they were called in the SW in the early 80s.) Not officially permitted, but understood and tolerated. |
They closed it the year I started hs in 1989.
1991 grad from small NE town. Kids could smoke on the grass circle in front of our school cafeteria until about 1990. Then, a non smoking campus so kids drove to the bottom of the driveway and smoked there. And in the bathroom.
class of 96 in Cleveland. No smoking allowed at all on the campus. I believe outdoor smoking was allowed until the early 90s.
Class of 86, NoVA school. Designated smoking area was just outside a corner near the cafeteria. When they were done smoking, they'd come inside and hang out at that corner, cat - calling at the girls and shouting expletives at the boys. They were referred to as "Grits" and I would steal myself when I had to walk by.
Massachusetts, 1984 grad. Not official that I recall. Next to the big gym doors by the teacher parking lot is what I remember. I do remember that the teachers lounge was smoking the one or two times I had to go in there.
