No, no, you are the dog training expert here. Do tell how someone can prevent a dog from pooping when the dog has the urge. You cannot drop that kind of stupid statement and then refuse to back it up. |
| Six pages in on DCUM, and OP is probably no longer sensitive or nice. High five DCUM! |
Wait. I know! Administer a doggy enema prior to leaving the house. |
|
OP DCUM is filled with irrational dog haters, I wouldn't all pet related questions here.
I always wonder how people like all of these responders walk on grass at all especially in the burbs where deer and foxes and squirrels and what not use their lawns as bathrooms. The planet has this crazy way of cleaning residue called rain. If you pick it up you're fine and the guy is a jerk. Stop worrying about it. I feel like no one here has ever even walked a dog...or pooped themselves. It's kind of hard to stop that train once it's left the station. |
| The dog does know or care about poop rules. The dog needs to poop? The dog poops - if they gotta go, they go. We've taken to staying off the sidewalks and walking in the road. The dog will pull over and poop on the parking (we always pick up). |
|
OP, I'm sorry for all the ignorant posters here. Your neighbor might have been having a bad day, or he might be a crotchety old man. Either way, I'd avoid his lawn.
It's difficult (if not impossible) to control an actively pooping dog. I have an English Bully, so I get the issue. I also have a townhouse in a neighborhood with inconsiderate dog owners. The only thing that bugs me are owners who leave the poop. It's so inconsiderate. Also, OP, I'm sensitive like you. Try not to worry about the old grouch. |
I'm a pet owner and if I see a walking dog shit on my property and no clean-up I have shouted out- WAIT Do you have a bag? Some one said NO and I said WAIT! I will get you bags for clean-up. Why should people park on the street and step in shit? Or residue? I've seen a person let their dog lift it's leg on my trash can. I have a male dog and when we walk him he does mark so he gets yanked away from stuff. He also gets no walk if he hasn't shit. Except of course on his own yard. |
The OP cleans up after her dog. Get a grip. |
| Va is a red state. You do not need to pick up your dog's shit. |
People who don't clean up after their dogs suck. But a person who complains about there being a little poop residue on a public street also pretty much sucks. I honestly try to walk my dogs after they've already gone in my backyard. But if one of them poops on the street or the parking AND I pick it up - that is plenty good enough. |
NP here, also a dog owner. This is REALLY EASY, pull your dog's leash and move it off the grass! OP said it was super close to the pavement, so yank your dog a few inches to avoid having it poop on someone's lawn. Or, better yet, just don't have your dog walking on someone's lawn in the first place. But really, if you're trying to suggest that the owner cannot possibly play any role whatsoever when their dog "has the urge" you are crazy. |
It's called a leash, use it, pull it and the dog will move somewhere else. It's pretty easy and I do it every time my dog wants to go in my neighbor's yard. Your little shitflake can handle a little tug once in awhile. |

This thread is just another proof that DCUM hates pets. It's really strange too because this area is incredibly pet friendly.
People here are acting like squirrels, birds and deer don't already have free range to shit up their yards. My dog's poop that I pick up is completely different. I only allow my dog to pee in the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the road, which isn't owned by the homeowner anyways. |
Simply not true. There are plenty of posts from dog owners (who presumably don't hate pets) making valid points (pick up your dog's crap, don't let your dog crap on someone else's front yard - especially if that person is right in front of you!, etc.). Sure, there will always be people who don't like pets. But there are also pet owners who give the rest of us a bad name b/c they are not responsible about picking up poop, keeping dogs off public playgrounds marked "No Pets", etc. etc. |
How does this thread prove that DCUM hates pets? Many of the people posting here own dogs. I think this whole thread flew over your head so pull it out of your but and stop being defensive. There are VERY few people who don't like dogs, it's the entitled owners that are the problem. And please stop with the birds, squirrels, deer argument. You know it's not even close to the nuisance that dog poop causes. |
