Was this rude? A pet related question.

Op here. This is not a troll post. I am a super sensitive person so I felt upset after the guy's comment. I am a bit upset at myself for upsetting him, I generally dislike and avoid conflict at all cost. I suppose I will just not let my dogs cross over to the lawns anymore, we are new to the suburbs so I am not used to this environment. The guy was not super mean, I was just shocked a bit because people typically like me and I love being friendly with neighbors.

It doesn't sound like he was being rude or mean. It sounds like you found it upsetting that there was conflict, but that's part of life. I'm sure next time you see him he will just say hi and move on.

"Delicate and sensitive self" would certainly describe the guy who overreacted about something so trivial - you are right in that regard, PP!

I can only Imagine OP in real life. "I think someone gavel the stink eye at the store. My whole day is ruined now. "

Go easy. This is true of some people. They don't choose or wish to be that way.

Seems to me, it is true of far more people that want to give the stink eye, and want to adversely affect others, or think they might. I have never known anyone to care what a complete stranger thinks of them. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

So there you have it OP. After 2 pages you are getting replies from both sides. Some say it isn't a big deal and some say it is. My guess is you're the type that will focus on the "not a big deal if you poop in his yard" replies and keep on doing it. I hate neighbors like you.

No, OP doesn't get "points" for obeying the law and showing basic decency by picking up after the dog. "Points" are for above and beyond, not mandatory standard.

In my neighborhood OP, that would be grounds for *all* of the neighbors' dogs pooping o that particular lawn. Of course, we would never admit this, it is an unwritten rule.

The thing is, now the homeowner knows that YOUR dog poops in his yard. If someone else lets their dog poop in his yard and doesn't pick it up, it is reasonable for him to assume that it's yours.

Not really.

This. No points for common decency.

You were in the wrong, OP.

Your dog should poop in your own yard. Period.

Nice, a word from the trailer trash crowd.

People who agree with one another but disagree with you = sheep.

Got it.

Have the dog poop in your yard. I have young kids and everything goes in the mouth. Ok, you pick up poop, but there is still poop and pee there and if I wanted it in my yard, I'd get a dog. He was right. You should ask before your dog craps in someones yard.

A dog pooping in a yard with their owner cleaning it up is completely not a big deal.

Actually, it is. Why can't your dog poop somewhere else anyway? When did walking your dog to someone else's house to poop become a thing anyway? We never did that and never will. Dogs can and should be trained to poop at home and take a walk without littering the neighborhood.
