Fox News Withdraws Claims of "No-Go Zones"

"inhospitable" is a term that could be applied to cities, towns, and neighborhoods across America.

I think it's beyond that.

"No Go Zones" is a good term because that's exactly what happens - it's inhospitable so 'no go'.

The Swedish no-go zones story is akin to that of Top Gear when they were attacked in Alabama when driving in cars labeled "Man Love Rules OK," "Hillary for President," "NASCAR Sucks," and "Country and Western Music Is Rubbish":

Inhospitabe?? Inhospitable is having Nigger Go Home spray painted on your house when you move into a neighborhood. That happened right here in DC, on MLK Day.

Yep, I agree that's nasty. But black people haven't cornered the market on prejudice. It was just as 'inhospitable' when my cousin got off a bus in Anacostia to walk a block to an internship at a public school (against my advice I might add) and kept getting screamed at, i.e. "Hey, what's that white girl doing here?" "Let's get the white girl". She turned down that internship, which is a shame, because she really wanted to help those inner city elementary school children.

I hear you PP and I get what you're trying to say but...still...
I mean yes, its disheartening when an aspiring humanitarian such as your cousin gets off a bus in a "rough neighborhood" and is immediately yelled at by what was in all likelihood some immature adolescents who probably didn't pose any real threat but they definitely were determined to make her feel unwelcome. That sucks. That's inhospitable. I get you. Still, its a little more than disheartening when a black guy is walking down the street minding his own business in what is by-and-large considered a "nice neighborhood" only to look up to see a uniformed officer screaming and pointing a gun at him. Talk about making somebody feel unwelcome. That's not inhospitable that's downright frightening and potentially deadly.

Given the amount of black youth gang violence, I would say you are deliberately twisting reality to your progressive mindset

Well to be honest we all "twist" reality according to our respective perceptions and preferences and prejudices - but that's beside the point. How about given the amount of racial profiling and overaggressive tactics by law enforcement officials I'm not twisting anything but instead I'm offering a juxtaposition of two realities.

Except that you are creating the amount of what you consider to be racial profiling. So many times people see racial profiling in situations where it simply isn't.

Conversely there are many times people see inhospitable behavior in situations where there isn't. They are creating the amount of what they consider to be threats of violence or evidence of criminal activity. With that being the case how can we say that one example of prejudicial perception is valid simply because it aligns with mainstream misconceptions but then invalidate another example of prejudicial perception simply because it's only evident to a minority class? People see what they want, yes, but it goes both ways.
