I continue to be baffled by why parents want their child to learn Spanish but not actually learn alongside a native Spanish speaker

Well yeah, that's ideal, but that's not how it really plays out in any school in Montgomery County. In schools with predominantly Spanish speakers, classes are taught in English. And moving to a Spanish speaking country isn't really an option for most of us. So, you do your best with the options you have. And, luckily, at RCF, my kids have good friends whose families are native Spanish speakers...so the best of both worlds.

So are you saying that a child would learn more Spanish by going to a school that teaches in English, but that has a large population of Spanish speakers? So a child could learn how to speak, read and write Spanish during the one hour of lunch/recess? Seems to me the better way to learn the language is to actually have instruction in it for majority of a school day. And at my child's language school, many of his classmates are in fact native speakers.

Also, not sure how it is being 'high and mighty' with respect to speakers of another language to actually take steps to effectively learn their language? So you are saying the non high and mighty thing to do would be to NOT learn to communicate with speakers of another language?

Me thinks you are just bitter for some reason....
