I really don't understand how anyone ever gets in anywhere. I am so defeated by my lack of choice at good schools.

It's been said before....you enroll when it's unproven. Your first kid is a guinea pig. Your second or third kid benefits from the early years. NONE of you would have looked at Stokes 10 years ago when it was over in Mt Pleasant. Once it moved to Brookland in the renovated space that all changed. By then it's too late, you can't get in.

Where does that leave those of us with one kid!

22:41 here. Thank you so much for responding. I hope your child(ren) are where you want them to be. Thankfully if it doesn't work out for us, we would be ok with staying where we are. Good luck to everyone.

How do they do it? Do they flash the names drawn on screen?

They walked through the process, and randomized and sorted in front of us. They read out the names accepted, and then posted the full lists, including waiting lists on the doors.

So families that were there already know their WL #....Ugh I should have went!

Do they put siblings in the same language?

Assume it was all done by computer?

Can somebody go to the school now and look up my child's WL number and send it to me? I can PM you his name. Need this by 30 min before COB tomorrow. Thanks. Hurry.

Funny...but I do kinda feel like that! Wonder if the school is open?

For real, is it on the outside door?
Anonymous
Names are posted to the door but facing inside so you can old read them inside the school.

I know it seems awfully frustrating, but this is a very good year for Stokes. The two years I applied for PS and PK, they had no spots available, and hence a sibling-only lottery.

Congratulations to the families who got in--we are not a Stokes family but know several. It's a great school!

I suppose 9/13 spots is better than none right?

Because I am so anxious and I couldn't wait I looked on MV & LAMB WL to see how many other children had my DC initials
