I don't think her name should be posted here. And perhaps she will be a better teacher outside of HGC...

Oh great, now the non-HGC side of 4th grade will have two problematic teachers.....

....she will teach middle school technology.

any updated feedback about how CCES HGC has fared over the last year?

I heard that the crazy Principal is retiring and if so, that can only be a good thing.

hm, where did you hear that? I rather hope it's true, but haven't heard anything, and I have a child at CCES.

I haven't heard the Chevy Chase ES principal is retiring, although MCPS did recently place a principal trainee at CCES to have a few months as "practice principal". During that time the old principal had to leave the building and cut contacts (standard procedure) so that the principal trainee could really run the place on her own. I understand that the principal trainee is finished and the old (crazy) principal is back. I have wondered if the atmosphere was better under the principal-trainee, but I don't really talk to a lot of CCES parents anymore, so I haven't heard.

I have heard that the Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS principal is retiring in June, but I don't think she's "crazy".

Maybe you are confusing the two?

I was the one who mentioned the crazy Principal retiring, definitely meant the CCES Principal not BCC, where the Principal is retiring though she seemed quite good. I was told by another parent but I think it was in reference to the trainee Principal who she thought was replacing the crazy one but it also may have just been wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking is correct, the CCES principal is unbalanced. She is becoming more unstable every year. Thankfully my last child will be out in a year.

The hands on projects and creativity have been sucked out of the HGC thanks to C2.0

This is not true of all Centers. My child's Center is wonderful. Please be specific to the Center you have knowledge of.

Please, please let this be true. CCES HGC is loads better this year without the terrible teacher. Her replacement is a super-young 1st time teacher, very quiet, but nice enough. I wouldn't say she's "Stand and Deliver" inspiring just yet, but at least she is not damaging children and sending them into therapy like her predecessor.

There has been no announcement about the principal retiring... we can dream though can't we. I've had the displeasure of working with her on a charity drive, she's nuts!!!
