| Lupita is strikingly gorgeous, no matter what lipstick she wears. |

When I wear make-up or lipstick to work, it is because I choose to do so, not because some hens think make-up is necessary to make me look "polished."
My husband has a few lines and spots on his face and no one is suggesting HE smooth it out with foundaiton. He puts on a moisturizer and goes on his way. This just reeks of sexism, and the worst kind: the kind OTHER women perpetuate. Yuck. |
| I rarely use actual lipstick in a tube but I always use something. Current favorite is Smashbox gloss in a neutral peach color that works well with my skin tone. |
I don't know if I agree with you that this is sexist. Where I work, all men wear ties. My DH says those aren't very comfortable - about how I feel about makeup. Also, there's a bit of an unwritten rule that there are only three acceptable colors for men's suits: black, navy, and grey. But women have a much wider range of acceptable color choices as long as whatever they're wearing is professional and modest. Is this sexist? I definitely don't think so - it's all about what's appropriate for a particular situation. I personally equate makeup to just another unfortunately necessary part of a professional or formal outfit. But then again, I was raised by pretty traditional (read: old fashioned ) parents, and I have a similar outlook myself. YMMV.

| I'm a teacher and I have always hated the way lipstick felt on my lips. Must have been those years of wearing flavored lip gloss as a kid that I always licked off. I found lipstain and I usually apply it in the car on the way to school. |
| In a professional setting anything at management level or above benefits from at least tinted moisturizer. |

I work in a very conservative office and I would feel out of place without some make up. I generally wear eyeliner, mascara, blush, concealer as needed and nude lipstick or brighter gloss. I wouldn't do red in the office. Has to be subtle.
Looking nice actually makes you appear smarter. Look up the studies. You hurt your chances of promotion by not looking your best. (Too much make up will make you look like a pole dancer though). As for those that hate lipstick coming off on everything....have you bought lipstick this decade? Just about every brand has the long lasting "kissable" lipstick. It doesn't come off until you want it to. |

Yes - it is the only makeup I wear to work.
I have a barely there mauve (Loreal Saucy Mauve) And a coral - Chanel Paradis |
I wear makeup because I like it, because it makes me look presentable and polished, because I love the fact that really only my family sees my bare face. I suggest to absolutely no one that they smooth out their face with cosmetics, although 90% of the adult population would benefit from them. You wear cosmetics; how do you think you're exempt from perpetuating sexism? |
AA woman here. My hair is professionally treated and under perfect conditions, usually only gets to a certain length before it starts breaking. Even in braids and other protective styles, my hair reaches a certain length and then it will not grow anymore. |

I wear only enough makeup to look un-sick and un-dead. What that is precisely has varied by my age (21 vs current 46), season (tan?) and hair color.
People who suggest I need more than the minimal amount to look un-sick can fuck themselves! |
This is me, though at 46. I wear Bobbi Brown matte lip color in tawny pink every day to work (along with tinted moisturizer, mascara, and eye brightener at the very least). I actually don't like the way I look in lipstick, but I know the work world doesn't want the all natural me. They just don't. |
Oh brother. Women wear make up and men don't. What a sexist world we live in.

You do realize that AA women come in lots of shades from light, light and cafe Au lait to cinnamon to rich dark ebony... you do realize we are not the same color right ? |
I like both looks, tho I prefer the 1st. You are nuts about her hair ! SHE IS AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY SHE IS!!! |
