Do you wear lipstick at work?

I know my mom became obsessed with lipstick as she got older, thought it brought her color out, so maybe at some point I will dive into lipstick.

As for the poster that says it brings it all together, that is interesting. I find it pulls away. My best feature is my eyes. Also, I fully admit to not understanding lipstick. Its seems to just come off on everything - too high maintenance for me. But maybe I am missing something (or thinking back to the 80s when is probably the last time I tried it).

I wear tinted lipgloss to make my lips a more pink and even color. It is not shiny or sticky and very subtle. I think lipstick is aging. I rarely see women under 45 with lipstick.

I could see wearing that. When I hear the word lipstick, I think of my mom's big thick stick of very colorful lipstick (which looks fine on her, but then there is this trail of lipstick marks on everything).

Bright lipstick with minimal make-up (or the no-makeup-makeup look) has been a beauty trend for the past few years. I see it on young women all.the.time.

Bare faced=unpolished.

This has to be one of the more stupid things I have seen on this forum.

Oh please, you must have seen that post coming.

I never wore any make up. I worked in a male dominated field. If you want to be taken seriously in my field you can't wear make up or look like you spend a lot of time on shallow things.

And unless you are below the age of 25--none of you can get away with it. You really can't.

Oh well. I'm unpolished. There are worse things.

I always wear lipstick, but that said, it also fades pretty quickly.

I am very pale and tend to have dark circles under my eyes, so I do not look finished or presentable unless I at least cover my undereye circles and even out my skin tone . . .and run some color over my lips.

If I don't do that, I look sickly and haggard. People start to ask me, "Are you ok? You look so tired!" which I always take as, "Oh no, I have to get some color on my face. . .STAT!"

They all look 17 or 70 without it. You can't talk about make-up in DC. They assume you mean stripper make-up and fake lashes, not a bit of concealer. Just like heels = trashy and Dankos = smart.

ha ha! I am the same way. I like to wear a really light amount of make up, really subtle to hide that haggard look, and i'll get a lot of comments that I look nice today because they can't see the make up. Even from total strangers, "You have great skin." (No I don't but thank you....)

I wear lipstick. I didn't when I was younger, but I am not 51 and people expect me to look at least a little polished. Anyway, I'm pretty ugly at this age, and it helps to avoid looking both ugly and unpolished. Right now I'm wearing L'Oreal "sugar plum". it is almost a non-color.

That's hilarious! I get that too! "You have such nice skin!" Umm, no, really, I do not, but thanks!! I'll take it!"

On another note, my sisters and I have all said: we HATE it when people say, "Ohhh, you look sooo tired. . ." b/c we really interpret that as an insult. Like, "you look like sh!t. Get some make-up on." LOL....

I do wear it in the winter, the rest of my makeup is really neutral, so I sometimes wear red lipstick or fudge or wine colors. In summer I wear sheer ones. I'm 41 and work in a business casual environment.

I do. I look better with it on and it's fun to wear.
