Ummm.... Not sure you get to claim to be a pagan after saying your an atheist, but merry Christmas, happy winter solstice and happy Festivus all the same.

Suppose his words in this instance were misrepresented? Suppose he was speaking in metaphorical terms? There is a bunch of middle ground on this. |
This is not true. Everyone worships Jesus, even if they call him by differant names. As for being the dumbest poster of the year, I had my IQ measured once by a profesional service, and the machine actually broke. They told me I was quote unquote "off the charts". |
So this "false path" is what? To love and care for each other? to recognise and care for the downtrodden? If God is offended by those that go down such a path, I want nothing to do with God. |
Well, if the first post didn't win you the award, this one did. IQ is not something measured by a machine like your blood pressure. It is measured using a test of various kinds of problems. IQ is simply a measurement of ("intellectual age" over physical age) x 100. So, if your IQ is 100 your intellectual age and your physical age are aligned - i.e., you're as good at solving the test problems as your supposed to be given your age. Thus, the machine is not going to break because your IQ is too high. There is no IQ that is "off the charts." (And, just for future reference, since the written text actually includes quotation marks, you don't need to write "quote unquote" before you put something in quotes.) If you paid for such a test from a "profesional service" sic and got those results, you were scammed. |
I thought so too - but I feel like Jesus is completely missing in the UU church. I feel like it would be fine to discuss his teachings (and those of other prophets) but that hasn't been the case at the two UU churches I've tried. |
Nice to know there is someone else who feels like I do. |
Oh, its so easy to scoff, and to mock, isn't it, pp? Well, do you know who else was mocked and scoffed at? Any guesses? Well, let's just say he has a birthday coming up soon. |
Jesus was born in September, by the analysis of any Biblical scholar or historian. A birthday in 9 months isn't exactly "coming up soon." |
I don't think so. Read the bible, dumbass, instead of relying on some liberal cardigan-wearing college profs to tell you how to think! In fact, you probably don't even have a bible, so just look at the calendar - notice what it says on December 25? |
|
Many people who enjoy Christmas believe Jesus was an important historical figure, but don't believe in prophets or messiahs, or god, or son's of god.
Long before Christ theres was a celebration of the winter solstice towards the end of December. When you stuff goodies into a stocking, it's a tradition that goes back thousands of years before Christianity The word "Christmas". Well, I guess we could call it something else but I don't know why believers would want that. I love the season of Christmas. |
According to the Bible, Jesus was not born in December. You may want to actually read your Bible thoroughly, instead of relying on popular folklore. http://www.ucg.org/doctrinal-beliefs/biblical-evidence-shows-jesus-christ-wasnt-born-dec-25/ |
I will pray for you. |
Well bless your heart! |
I'm a Christian, and have known since I was a child that the date was unknown, most likely fall. A few years ago I read a study based on astronomy and what "star" (likely a comet or planet) the wise men followed. Wish I could find it... |
