I've never met a Christian worried about the rudeness of pushing their faith into someone's faith.
Of course, I haven't met any non-Christians (myself included) who are offended by being wished "Merry Christmas." This seems to be a fake problem of the type that Christians like to generate to get themselves riled up about being victimized when they're not being. |

| If "Merry Christmas" is spoken, that's fine. But a more universal greeting is favored, "Happy Holidays!" |
Good news! You're not supposed to know people's religion! If you want to say "Merry Christmas" to somebody who may not celebrate Christmas, go right ahead! (Though I can't say that I understand why you would want to.) |

Complain to the CEOs of big businesses who do their market research.
Every holiday is a money-maker - from Black Friday to all-night Christmas Eve shopping. But the fact remains that the majority of the people in this country identify with a Christian faith. This may change one day, but for now, it is what it is. So please stop blaming all the brainwashed Christians for not recognizing that there are other religious beliefs floating around in the US. To be honest, I'm tired of the martyrs on this forum. Anyone secure in his/her religion or with his/her lifestyle choices doesn't give a rat's ass about how others choose to live their lives.

| Jewish here. Not offended by Christmas stuff. But how would you like my child (age 3) to answer question from well meaning strangers about "are you here (at the mall) to see Santa" or "what did you ask Santa for for Christmas". I've gotten these questions multiple times already. He isn't trying to make you feel bad when he says "I don't celebrate Christmas" but people have seemed put off by the reply. |
really? Tell that to the lady in the burqa. |
OP wants to send CHRISTMAS cards, presumably to people she knows. So yeah, she should know their religion. Do you send cards to people you know so little about that you dont even know if they're Jewish, Christian, Muslim, etc? |
??? The hype about Santa is not coming from the Jewish parents, I promise you that. We are all well aware of what Christmas is about. It's the hysterical Christian parents that are afraid of others ruining "Santa" for their kids that bothers us. I would never disparage anyone else's religious traditions and the true meaning of Christmas. But Santa and all the rest are just commercial/marketing crap. |
This is how it should be. I am not offended in any way with any of these greetings. I think it is just nice of the other person, and would say: Thank you, I wish you the same! I don't expect anyone guessing my religion when looking at me! |
LMAO!!! PP wins dumbest poster of the year and most ignorant Christian! Muslims, Jews and Christians worship the same God. Jews do not believe Jesus was the Messiah. Muslims do not believe he was the Messiah either, but a prophet. |
|
I consider myself Christian and I also consider Jesus a prophet. Not necessarily the Messiah. Maybe I'm really Jewish? |
Contrary to popular belief, Judaism is about a LOT more than "not believing in Jesus" or "not celebrating Christmas." |
Bill O'Reilly posts on DCUM?!?! Who knew? |
