Since your kid didn't pass the cut off, you do it by parent referral?

yes, parent referral.

Insane! Those are such good scores. Do you know the GBRS??? Screening file should have indicated that English was not the first language.

This is what prepping does. Not saying the scores were prepped, but the high scores with lower GBRS indicates prep.

all 4's in the report card...very disappointed. Getting ready to appeal.

I'm surprised by this. The results this year seem very random.

I know it's been alleged that TJ rejects for apparent prepping, but now the AAP committee?

Ok for run of the mill, but I would go to an experienced person over a student with very little experience (even if they are well supervised) if there is any indication of something complex.

FCPS staff members chose to administer the custom form of the CogAT this year after it came to our
attention that some students, in previous years, had prepared for the CogAT using the exact form of the
CogAT being administered in FCPS.

I am also surprised. For the FxAT could the verbal have been low and only math and/or nonverbal high? Searching for any logic to the committee's decision.

well that couldn't have been a problem with the FxAT. It was a new test so no "exact form" was available to use as prep material.

What was FxAT and what was GBRS?

fxat 70, gbrs 11

what else can i submit? we already did wisc.

Seems that the only option remaining is Stanford Binet. Could also add Woodcock Johnson tests of achievement.

This is discouraging! I heard that wisc 133 is a sure bet before... My DC is also not in (nnat 135, tat 96%) and I am thinking of wisc. For my DC's ability, I guess the wisc in the range of 130-135 is very possible. So DC will still have trouble getting in...
Maybe we should wait one more year for DC to mature? BTW, DC has a summer birthday.

A WISC on appeal seems to have more weight than in original packet. I wouldn't wait. Plus in your DC's case, the only low score would be the GBRS (I'm assuming that's the only reason your DC didn't get in) so a WISC in the 130s should override GBRS.

I thought you weren't supposed to get more than one WISC a year.

The pp was discouraged by another poster's DC not getting in with WISC in original packet and was wondering whether to hold off on doing WISC on appeal for her DC. The comment was to the pp who hasn't done WISC yet.

I believe the comment about WISC on appeal was for the second poster, who hasn't had WISC done yet, not for the original poster who submitted WISC with the application. So the comment encourages those who have not had WISC done yet to have one done for appeal, even if they see that WISC with original application did not get a child with good scores in.
