People got in off the waitlist. I don't know exactly how far but I know that there are kids in my childs PK4 class that got in last summer.

It's easy enough to change that perception.

+10. Remarkable that no one ever has any comment in this and there is no sign CM will make it public this year. It's shady layered upon shady.

Have you ever seen any school "officially" comment on DCUM? I'd love to see that.

I didn't necessarily mean an "official" comment from the school. Every other big point of contention raised here about other schools has at least a few knowledgable-sounding people weighing in with exanations or details. Not saying one should believe people are who they say they are, but usually there's at lead enough of a response to get an idea of what's going on.

Re: the secret, non-public CM lottery, I have seen zero justifications or rationalizations. And really, how can you justify a non-public process? There is no other way to see it except that they are not totally kosher.

On the wait list and going down to 50, highly doubt that (based on what number try were at near the end of the summer), but of course no one will ever really know, since they never published the wait list or the acceptance list.

I also heard people say that no one got in off the waitlist, but when I asked the person who does admissions, he said they went to 50 on the waitlist last year. Seems like there is a lot of misinformation on DCUM.

I got in off the waitlist for PK-3

Are there more than 2 or 3 such kids as far as you know?

Nope - there were a set of twins who moved away and I think one (maybe two?) others who switched schools. Beyond that, it's the same kids who were there for PS.

Is this a fact? How do you know all the kids in all the grades?

That could have happened this year- but of those that attended cm last year,, only 3 were gone at the beginning of this new school year. A few kids left before winter break, but that is not what I am referingt to

I'm the PP who posted this one and should clarify. This is my understanding of PS families (now PK). Not the whole school.

I know a black kid who left from pre-k last year because the parents did not like the treatment he was receiving from the teachers and administrators.

Interesting... I know 2 AA families that didn't even apply because of the cold receptions they got at CM open houses. And I don't think these families know each other, I just know them each and this has come up in our school conversations.
