The article gives diversity points for representing the Ward in which they are located, not the entire district. Charters are supposed to represent the entire city. Latin, lamb and IT are more "diverse" racially than CM. |
CM more diverse than IT http://issuu.com/pcsb/docs/dcpcsb_pmf_2013/113 |
Latin and Lamb are huge schools which have been in existence both for over a decade. |
So what? |
The first year will be an a one off (of any school) with founders, etc. and a year of a lottery will not give you a random distribution of the city population. Give it a few years to even out and then you can cry racist and unfair if their numbers don't even out. |
They say perception is reality and, when it gets right down to it, there's no reason to hold a lottery in secret unless you want to be selective about who wins.
It's easy enough to change that perception. |
+10. Remarkable that no one ever has any comment in this and there is no sign CM will make it public this year. It's shady layered upon shady. |
Have you ever seen any school "officially" comment on DCUM? I'd love to see that. |
There is no "etc" it is just Founders that get preference. 1) you are assuming there were a whole bunch of founders that would throw off the numbers and 2) you are assuming all the founders are white. |
I don't believe perception is reality, perception is projection. You are projecting your perception of what you believe to have occurred without all the facts and understanding. For example, I perceive you to be an idiot. Is that reality? Maybe. Or, maybe I don't have all the facts of you based on this one post you've provided. |
Neither of these things were my assumptions. I only stated (and clearly, you just inferred incorrectly) that two years was not enough data to accurately judge the school's demographics. |
There's talk that CM may move to a different location. I live in NE and am wondering if I should even put CM on my list.
Is there a chance that CM will move east or will it likely stay in its current Ward? Have any administrators said that they are trying to stay close to where they are or any location is fair game? |
I specifically asked about this at the open house, and they said their priority is to stay as close as they can to the current location. They are focused on wards 1 & 4 as a result, with a preference for ward 1. So, I'd say they may go slightly east, but it doesn't sound like they are looking at NE at all. |
I'm really confused about the lottery--people say that it wasn't public last year. Can current parents talk about this? I also heard people say that no one got in off the waitlist, but when I asked the person who does admissions, he said they went to 50 on the waitlist last year. Seems like there is a lot of misinformation on DCUM. |
