NW Current Article - SWW Principal Hiring Wife to run FS in merger- Nepotism Anyone?

Is there evidence that this kind of thing creates such a terrible school environment that the principal at one of the District's best HS should be FIRED for even suggesting such an arrangement?

How did Brent get into the mix? Did you mean FS?

And chances are this best HS would be just as good with another principal--one with GOOD JUDGEMENT.

It's like high-performing schools in the suburbs. At some point, the principal doesn't make much of a difference. You can switch principals every 2-3 years and the school would function just as well. High performing schools are like well-oiled machines that just need someone there as an overseer. I seriously doubt any high-performing school would fall apart under a new principal. Usually it's the faculty, student body and parents who make it a go. The principal is just the face of the school.

And are you suggesting Hardy is getting better because his wife is there?

Wow! Those Trogischs are just the BEST thing to ever happen to education, aren't they?

Are you kidding? Making such a suggestion shows such a lack of judgement. It shows an arrogance. Those things lead to a lack of confidence in his performance. It makes folks ask, "So where else is he attempting to circumvent the rules?" He comes off as someone who says, "It's my way or the highway." No one, and I mean no one is that good. Anyone with a head that big and such poor judgement needs to go.

And whoever greenlighted his decision needs to go right along with him. They need to go back to school to read up on ethics.

According to the article, the principal cleared it with DCPS but DCPS won't confirm they approved the hiring. His wife is currently a teacher at Hardy MS with no administrative experience. The principal sees no issue with this hiring.........is it me? Doesn't DCPS have rules about nepotism? Maybe DCPS doesn't know what that word means...........

Why are you outraged over what goes on in the District? There's nothing new here and it's hardly even news; it's just the way it is. I suggest you either move or just get used to these goings on.

What message does it send the students at SWW that the principal thinks laws and codes of ethics and conduct don't apply to him? Shouldn't principals be setting examples of the best possible behavior?

Excellent point- and just think of what a fine example this will set for the preschool- 8th students at FS.

I disagree that the principal of a high performing school does not matter. The teachers and parents cannot run a school, they cannot strategize how to deal with the complexities of dcps central office. They cannot see the school from the larger perspective that is the principal's job. There well may be people that can take over and the school will continue to be successful, but there was a reason that he was appointed to run the combined school and it may be that it is not so easy to find a principal with the skill set to make FS successful.

Just like it wouldn't be easy to find an assistant principal who could do as good a job as his wife, based on the fact that she's a terrific classroom teacher (per Richard's obviously unbiased opinion--sarcasm).

You Trogischs are something else. Thinking that NOOOOOOBODY inside the District or out could do as good a job as you.

Really? Seriously?

Strong leaders who are turning around schools and making things happen are a dime a dozen. Richie didn't break any molds.

If you "hand-pick" your students. You better be a high performing school........REALLY NOT IMPRESSED BY THE DESCRIPTION OF SWW AS "HIGH PERFORMING"....... They pick the cream of the crop and are compared to schools that have to work with the hand they are dealt. Let's be honest.

FS is opposite of what Trogish has been running.
