I'm sure they trust him- they want to keep their school open. FS parents are not going to rock the boat- even over boneheaded moves like this.

Maybe this is Mr. Trogisch's kung-fu trick to wreck the merger plan.

Isn't it more like a Kung fu trick to wreck his career?

One word- Hubris. Brings 'em down every time.

I would love to hear from teachers. How would they feel working in a school where the assistant principal is married to the principal? Can you imagine if there was more than one assistant principal? Can you imagine having a different point of view than the Mr. and the Mrs.?

Francis teachers will be excessed must reapply for their jobs.

What teacher would want to work for that administration?

I think there are teachers and administrators at Francis-Stevens who fear for their jobs. I imagine they are very indignant.

My home is in-bounds for Francis-Stevens. Speaking only for myself, I would never send my child there in its present format. I hope that the quality of educational offerings at the school will improve. To that end, I am glad to hear there will be new management, and happy that the teaching staff will be reviewed, and talented teachers retained.

Seriously? You're glad that the new management will be a husband - wife/ principal- asst. principal duo?

As far as my family is concerned, nothing could be worse than what we have now as an in-boundary education option; the current configuration is simply unacceptable. Seriously.

First of all, I graduated from Walls just a couple years ago.

Mr. Trogisch was nothing but professional, very dedicated to the students. I can imagine that it is hard for him to be just as dedicated when the school system throws him an underperforming school and expects him to magically fix it. I know that would really sap my resolve to work in a system.

He took a lot of pride in the fact that Walls ran smoothly and was independent(ish). I have no doubt he is pretty pissed that the gods of DCPS (Central Office) decided to play this game of Russian Roulette with Walls' future, and I would not doubt that he could care less whether he stays on as principal of either schools. Not that I think either school will last very long after this, maybe two or three years, tops, before both are on the chopping block. before you go on a crusade against him, realize that he has been stuck in a bad position by an administration that could care less about Walls.

Maybe he thinks this hell will be slightly better if his wife is working with him to try and save FS. Maybe he believes she is the person to run FS.

No matter what, my suggestion stays the same, run as far away from Walls. If you currently go there, transfer, if you are applying, don't waste your time. This merger is nothing but a drain on the school.

Mr. Trogisch is a good principal, who knows what he is doing. I will stand behind his actions until the day whatever Rhee wannabe cuts it's final string.

If they are sharing the building then he will not be supervising her? I work in a law firm and I know we have had a couple associates marry- basically they said they could not work in the same practice group. I have to agree with the poster that it is not uncommon, but if it happens should have some very clear rules and not direct reporting lines.

I work in a law firm too, we had a partner and an associate who got married a while ago. the associate left the firm just before the marriage, made partner somewhere else, and came back after years as a partner. I have never seen a partner overseeing a spouse/child associate

Yes, this is an absolute Nepotism. What else is it otherwise? I don't care if Trogisch thinks there is no better candidate for the assistant principal position which is a total BS. How does his wife have the abilities and experience to show that she is the best candidate for it? I don't want someone teaching the students that the Filipinos are Hispanic, let alone leading a school as an assistant principal. If DCPS really lets this happen, I will completely lose faith in it for one last time. Why is the nation's capital so low quality?

Where's Jay Matthews story on this hot pile of BS?

Don't worry few marriages can survive working together! My money is on divorce.

My DH and I are in similar fields and I worked a bit in his company. While I agree it is not good for her to be at the same school, she has her own career and wants to promote. If she wants to get into administration she will have to start someplace, correct? If I was her though, I would have reservations because of how it looks from the outside. It is also hard to work with your spouse!
