Also, and I realize anecdote does not equal data, but the last time I brought in my Apple laptop to the Genius Bar to get a new something cord, the Genius guy was SHOCKED that it was 3 years old and the battery hadn't exploded yet. He actually called a coworker over to show him my ancient, **3-year old** laptop that hadn't burnt out yet. Think about that for a minute.

huh, my husband has an original iphone that is still going strong. My ibook G4 from 2004 still works just fine (although I did buy a macbook to replace it for photo/graphic work).

I really like Land's End clothing as well. I think Gymboree clothes hold up extremely well too. My two girls are two years apart and the hand me down Gymboree clothes still look really good.

12:35 thanks for backing me up. I am the PP, my daughter and I both wear Lilly as play clothes. Never matching. I wear the shorts and white tshirts all summer to the park. DD wears the dresses. It was designed to hide stains with the bold prints...

Have to add Barbour and Patagonia to my list.

It's the way they drive that's high quality. Mine havent had many problems, but true they are expensive. They also ruined me for driving all the front wheel drive mainstream rental cars that feel cheap. I can understand if others don't get it.

We have a 12 year old BMW that we affectionately call "Princess" because since day one that car has been high maintenance and expensive to repair. Random electrical things go out all the time -- headlights, the radio, seat warmers. But it drives like tank, and it is a solid piece of metal, and we don't give up on cars until they totally die. It was a gift btw - would never have bought one for ourselves. I would so much rather have a Subaru.

I have a 1st gen and 2nd gen ipod touch that still works like new - touch wood. so with a mac mini. had to have some work done on my macbooks but while under warranty... but i grant you that if you have to do repairs, they are expensive!
