What name brands actually reflect quality?

Vineyard Vines and Lilly Pulitzer are our staples

I've found that Lands End quality has gone down recently.

I do like:

Carter's Cotton Pajamas
Benjamin Moore paint

Apple represents unparalleled innovation, which is a type of "quality" I guess.

Durability -- which is seems like we're talking about there, right? -- no. Apples execs will tell you themselves that many of their products are expected to self combust after one year's use (iPhone). This is fact.

Also, and I realize anecdote does not equal data, but the last time I brought in my Apple laptop to the Genius Bar to get a new something cord, the Genius guy was SHOCKED that it was 3 years old and the battery hadn't exploded yet. He actually called a coworker over to show him my ancient, **3-year old** laptop that hadn't burnt out yet. Think about that for a minute.

Stickley wood funiture

Thos. Moser furniture

Dansko "professional" style clogs (not the newer stylized ones)

Gerber cloth diapers.

To 11:15- boys can't wear Hanna Anderson. And Lilly Pulitzer can't be worn every day and laundered...it won't hold up.

To 11:38, boys can wear Hanna Anderson until they're 10 years old.

No, it's not a fact. How many Apple execs have you spoken to? We have had our iphones for 2+ and they work perfectly fine. Same for laptops and iMacs, no issues whatsoever.

Three, actually, including the one I'm married to. Read industry journals if you don't like what I have to print.

This plus all of Apple's planned obsolescence hijinks really piss me off. If I had more integrity I would boycott them.

I beg to differ. I get my Lilly dry cleaned like pp but my daughter's dresses go in the wash (no dry) and look brand new. Last summer I got her 5 dresses at the warehouse sale, used them as everyday play clothes. Despite the dirt and grim at the park and a very messy 18mo eater they look great.

Lululemon!

I used to ridicule the brand, as I had no need to spend $60 or more on a workout top when I could easily get one at Target for a third of the price. Then I got a gift card and hit the changing rooms. Yeah...

Anonymous wrote:an important thing when considering brand is that sometimes it gets purchased and the new product does not meet historical performance. Or they start making it cheaper.

For example:
Electralux vacumes
Radian Car Seats

I am sure people have others to share

Sunshine Kids didn't get bought. They changed their name. What's wrong with the new seats?

Room & Board
Hardwood Artisans

(NOT Electrolux or Kitchenaid appliances, I have learned to my dismay...)
