Durability -- which is seems like we're talking about there, right? -- no. Apples execs will tell you themselves that many of their products are expected to self combust after one year's use (iPhone). This is fact.

Also, and I realize anecdote does not equal data, but the last time I brought in my Apple laptop to the Genius Bar to get a new something cord, the Genius guy was SHOCKED that it was 3 years old and the battery hadn't exploded yet. He actually called a coworker over to show him my ancient, **3-year old** laptop that hadn't burnt out yet. Think about that for a minute.

That's funny because I regularly bring my 8-yo laptop to the Genius Bar and they don't bat an eye.

Sorry, but they have Godiva kiosks is just about every store in America. It once was, I'll grant you, but it's not just Tyson's Gallaria and Upper Wisconsin Ave. anymore don't know the actual name of the hood where those high priced shops are.

Agree.

Unless your willing to show off the BB label on the inner pocket of a suit coat, you're paying a hell of a lot for a just a name. Wool, navy, pinstripes is pretty common on K street, it's basically more the cut and if the guys not wearing horrific shoes like black loafers with any trace of metal on them. Hideous

No, it's not a fact. How many Apple execs have you spoken to? We have had our iphones for 2+ and they work perfectly fine. Same for laptops and iMacs, no issues whatsoever.

Three, actually, including the one I'm married to. Read industry journals if you don't like what I have to print.

You allowed this to happen as the wife of an Apple exec? Okayyy...

I'm reading this on my 4 year old Apple laptop. My experience is that Apple hardware lasts much longer than most. All batteries have a finite lifespan; nothing to be done about that.

Sorry, disagree. Ikea??? You get what you pay for. Also some C&B stuff you have to assemble yourself. Not sure I would say that was "quality."

disagree. you probably have not been there in a while. i have furniture hunted across the board, and many times found what i like only at IKEA. but i am not a label snob [i am not afraid of telling folks its from IKEA - you cannot guess btw just from looking at it]. i appreciate quality/$ over the label. its the design and quality/price tradeoff which IKEA is pretty good at. and FYI, not everything sold in IKEA is targeted at college dorms. they have plenty of stuff at their high end which is way better value than c&b, PB, and many others.

So, PP, you equate high-quality with "exclusive" and not "in the hood"? A product cannot be high quality if people can afford it?
