I'm guessing the reason PP used the phrase "so-called Christian Bible" is that there is no such thing as the "Christian Bible". There are literally hundreds of permutations of the actually "books" of "the Bible", nevermind the ever-expanding multitude of translations. There's exactly *one* Jewish Bible. Same with the Koran. You don't get to just make up a different one and publish it. Again, I understand why it would upset people, but it's an upset that grows out of ignorance. Don't blame the PP for your own lack of knowledge. |
I actually agree. I bet both were fake and actually Insufferable Atheists. |
yeah, I'm sure you are correct. The PP was agonizing over the various edition of the King James Bible when she made the bigoted comment.

| How many posts are you guys going to spend pointing fingers at one another? |
Hmm. Maybe they'll come back and we can ask them. Til then we'll just have to sit here rolling our eyes at one another.

Get a room, you two. Time to end the thread. |

Wait, you mean there's a single English edition of the Jewish bible? Hardly. Same goes for the Koran - you're not supposed to translate it, although people do, but there are even disagreements about the Arabic because of the lack of vowels (don't make me point them out although I could).
Plus I doubt Insufferable Jew knew any of this bible history, and I suspect you're giving her way too much credit.... |

A primary difference is that jewish theology teaches that the 613 laws of the old testament only apply to jews. So jews do not believe that Christians/Muslims/Hindus/Buddhists/etc have to follow Jewish law or believe in the same G-d.
It is my understanding that Christian theology holds that everyone needs to accept jesus or they will not be saved. This is a significant difference as it means that christian theology (not every Christian out there) believes that Jewis/Muslims/etc will not be saved and are "wrong". whereas Jewish law only requires that non-jews follow the & laws of Noah (not the 10 commendments), which include 1.Prohibition of Idolatry 2.Prohibition of Murder 3.Prohibition of Theft 4.Prohibition of Sexual immorality 5.Prohibition of Blasphemy 6.Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive 7.Establishment of courts of law Some may argue whether Jesus is considered an idol, if in fact, he was not the son of g-d and he has been made itnto a human "idol" but most do not consider Christianiy/Jesus to be in violation of the 7 laws of Noah. |
| I hope all the non-Christians enjoy Hell. |
Hell for me would be being surrounded by self-righteous and sanctimonious christians ... uh oh! |
What a very unChristian thing to say. You should be ashamed of yourself. |
