This is me almost exactly. I'll be 28 in December and when I got married (at age 24) I really thought we'd have one by the time I hit 28. But my husband has had some unexpected (and unavoidable) detours in his career path and it looks like he will be starting a grad program next year. Which means I'll probably be 29 or 30 by the time we TTC. Obviously that's a pretty avg. (or slightly below avg) age around here but it's not what I wanted. It's nice to know I'm not alone. |
Do your Chicago friends have high powered careers and graduate degrees, or not so much? |
33 and 37 |
That's because you started at 22. You had 4 children at 30; I wasn't even married at 30 lol. |
where do all the moms who started in their 20s live? Because I don't know many - we always feel like the youngest parents in our daughter's classes. |
Where do these people live?? I am 33 and would like to have a 3rd but we simply can't afford it in this area. We both work full-time and have to in order to stay here close to our families. BTW, I had my first at 30 and just had my 2nd 3 months ago.

My husband works downtown for the gov't. We live out by the end of a VRE line. |
Still struggling to have my first, so I'll be happy to be able to post in this thread at some point. |

I am curious as well as I neither know nor see on the playground any moms in their early 20s. |

We're in Chicago, #1 at 28 and #2 at 30. We only started that late because our families were against our marriage. We wanted to wait until they were all in terms with each other before introducing children into the "mess". I gave up my high powered career with all my degrees to stay at home and support DH going back to school. Are you really that insecure about your own choices? |
I don't know ANY who started in their early 20s - we actually don't know many who started before 30. We had our first at 28 and always seem like the young'uns among the parents anywhere. |
