Ugh, not the Oriental/Asian debate again.

Asian is the non-offensive term for the US. In the UK, Oriental isn't offensive, but that's because it's a whole separate country with a completely different history from the US.

If you aren't Asian, I don't know WHY you'd argue with an Asian person telling them that it's okay to call them Oriental because your Asian husband doesn't mind it.

Did someone do that on this thread? I didn't see that. I also didn't see where the persons arguing that Oriental was an acceptable term said they were Asian (or not).
