I would not live anywhere there is a large concentration of Orthodox families.
They are very insular, and in my experience close minded. |
haa haaa I will not let my daughter have significant contact with orthodox boys. They have been told all their lives that those other girls are easy, that is why they stick like flies. I insist they do their flings with girls from their own clan. And do not think they are morally above that |
Where do people get these crazy ideas? I grew up orthodox, still am orthodox and no one tells boys/kids that non-jewish girls are easy. The strictest of the orthodox keep boys and girls separate as much as possible - jewish and non-jewish. Modern orthodox mix but are still taught to wait for sexual activity until marriage. Virtually all (but not all) my friends from growing up were virgins until they got married in their early to mid 20's. |
My assumption is that their friends tell them this, not their parents and community. My Mom grew up in Israel and she always told us that Israeli boys think American girls are easy. As an adult I found that to be true (not all Israeli guys, obviously, but it does seem to be the word on the street there). I know that American guys have their own versions of who is easy somewhere else (Sweden, or whatever they come up with). The fact is that guys will always pick some class or ethnicity of woman who will sleep with them easily. It says nothing about the actual people. I do think most Orthodox people....not Modern Orthodox, which is very different where I grew up, are virgins until their wedding day, just like most religious people of other faiths I know. |
| BTW, I don't mean that Orthodox boys think that secular girls are easy, I just mean that....if they would.....it's probably a "guy thing" and not an "Orthodox thing". |

Lots of people think American girls are easy ... it's hardly limited to Israelis. I encountered that attitude in France, Morocco, and Japan, and I'm sure those countries are not exceptions. |
That very well may be true, I just was referring to what my Mother spoke about when I was a kid, since she is from there, not because I think it's limited to Israel. I don't think women in any particular country are any easier than women from any other particular country, just that boys are boys and want to believe that they could go to some other place and someone would sleep with them. Did you ever see "Love, Actually"? They show a British guy in that movie going to Milkwaukee thinking someone will sleep with him because of his "cute British accent" and then he walks into a bar and meets gorgeous women who take him home and sleep with him in the nude because they can't afford pajamas....I think the whole thing is pretty funny. Anyway, this is really off topic! |
