| my boys are amazing to other adults but to their own parents they kind of have no filter and are a bit rude. From other adults we keep getting compliments on how, kind, mature and well spoken they are. |
| All this boy mom girl mom nonsense is terrible. A couple should be functional. That’s it. That means a fair and functional way of distributing work, clear communication, and good listening. A girl who has no desire to sew a button shouldn’t just demand someone else do do it or vice versa, same with yard work, maintenance or dishes. Grow up everyone, moms and kids. |
How? |
| I know plenty of middle age women who don't cook, hire cleaners and struggle to make the doctor's appointments and take care of their health. My husband and I have different strengths when it comes to life skills. I didn't learn to cook until adulthood because my mother barely cooked. |
|
People have different strengths. You are fortunate if your boys are great about their studies and manage all life skills well. It's easy to toot your own horn, but many people try to teach these skills and some take and some don't or none take.
Many on here bashed a woman who said her niece has no ambition, but cooks, cleans, watched children, manages household things and is engaged.People saw her as loser with nothing to offer yet in a different culture or era she would be considered the ideal female. Everything is relative. It probably was easy to teach those things, but hard to get her to find a passion for schoolwork or career. Don't assume parents aren't trying. |
So at least six doctor's appointments per year, not including the ordinary infections/bugs/viruses? |
| Boy mom here and my boy does a phenomenal job cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry. Working on the other skills but he is motivated to learn and it is excitiing. |
|
My daughter and her long time boyfriend decided to share an apartment. He could not manage basic life. He couldn’t manage his own shopping, basic cleaning, his agreed upon chores or paying the bills. He had the money to pay the bills, but lacked the executive function to get it done. After an eviction notice was delivered, she asked him to leave. She’s not the only one in her friend group that dealt with an inept boyfriend.
|
Sounds like she needs to work on choosing better partners. |
| Please OP. Way to effing generalize because your DD said one thing. |
Blame the woman for a man’s lack of life skills? |
That’s literally the premise of this thread. It’s ALWAYS the mom’s fault to sexist idiots like OP. |
No, it's the usual DCUM boy-bashing misandry that goes on here constantly. |
My son and his girlfriend moved in together. She couldn't or wouldn't cook and clean, didn't pay much in the way of bills, and told him that one of the things she liked best about him is that he makes a lot of money and has wealthy parents. They are no longer together. He's not the only one in his group that got rid of his useless golddigger. |
I will say that one of my friends has boys who can not do any of the above mentioned things. So they are out there somewhere in the wild. Best to avoid. |
