QE2 was a hard worker and shrewd in her way. Not sure how we’re supposed to assess her being “an idiot”.

Now Harry… he does seem like an idiot- from the nazi uniform to the whine fest publication spare - boy did the palace protect his stupid ass. Now that he’s out from under them it’s clear just how stupid he is.

Which posts? I see one saying Megan was dumb for how she dealt with the press, and a poster or two saying she should’ve known better marrying into a terrible family.

But I don’t see nastiness or over the top insults toward Megan?

And my grandmother got into Cambridge after failing her math exam, so there's that. All it takes is connections. Do you think any school or university in the world was going to turn down Prince William, or flunk him after they took him?

I had never heard she cheated and I used to follow her pretty closely. Where did you read that? I never thought she was a rocket scientist, but she seemed like a quiet sporty type who probably studied an average amount. I definitely wouldn't have pegged her as a cheater. She seems like someone who would never take a risk like that.

There was a private forum for St Andrew's students, which some journalist infiltrated, and he said he found old posts from 2001/2002 that were complaining that Kate copied other students' work. It could be just jealousy, who knows.

Wasn’t she dating William? No surprise they made sure she did well.

Even if they like their life, I'm sure they don't like the current relationship with Harry's family, and maybe even her dad as well.

Agree they should have avoided Spare and Oprah. But also I get the impulse to correct the record, for example by saying, no Meghan didn't bully Kate over her wedding, in fact it was the other way around. Some of the bullying clearly came from the palaces, like that twisted bridesmaids' dresses story, and Harry and Meghan must have been in a terrible headspace knowing their family was behind a lot of it.

Yeah maybe correct the record in the press (but no book or Oprah), but not throw fuel on the fire by adding additional stories that nobody knew about. I also think Meagan should have sucked it up and not told the Kate story. I don't believe Kate was behind any leaked stories. I would have left her out of it, for the sake of a future relationship. I think she should have taken her lumps on that one story.

Harry stated they saw how the firm pitted his dad and mom against each other. Harry said he and William promised they wouldn’t do that. William broke his promise.

Meghan and Harry were out shining Wm&Kate and that couldn’t continue. Shame the firm didn’t figure out a way to use them to improve publicity for the palace. Give Harry and Meghan 50/50 with them doing PR in Africa. Could have been wonderful for everyone.

I don’t really consider m part of the royal family, she left and created a boundary with Oprah etc. so I respect those wishes and no longer see her as royal.
Anyway -this thread was about queen. One of the best posts points out that our Doctor Jesus Trump is definitely an idiot but here are questioning the quite capable queen.

I don't think she was an idiot at all. She was interested in her country's affairs and knowledgeable to a great degree about intelligence and government, spanning more decades than most heads of state. And she seemed sharp even in her old age and continued to work.

Maybe I’m naive but I just don’t believe that “the Firm” has this all encompassing power, nor do I believe that H and M were outshining W and K in any meaningful way. H and M had a lot of press because they were a new thing and weddings and pregnancies always get lots of press. I just don’t buy that W and K were dying with jealousy over the attention. They don’t even seem to like the press attention that much. I think H just overstated everything because he has a bit of an inferiority complex. Which I blame on his parents butt I still think (as not a major royal watcher) that H and M played this all wrong— unless their goal was to live a quiet life in montecito with relatively normal jobs, in which case maybe it was the right play. I feel bad for both of them and feel lkke they are nice enough people in their own way — neither seems cut out for the royal life, so I hope they find happiness in the life they have built.
