All the returning it is immoral people. Suppose you bought a $45 sweater in your size without trying it on. Wore it out for dinner and realized one sleeve was 2 inches shorter than the other.
Would you return it as defective? Would you contest an "unworn" policy given you didn't know it was defective before you wore it.? |

Consider that many of the items you own were probably worn and returned by someone else—not necessarily because of the fit, but simply because they needed something to wear once. They bought it, kept the tags on, and planned to return it, which I think is unethical.
What you did, in my opinion, is different, and I don't see anything wrong with returning it. Personally, though, $45 might not be worth the effort for me. |
| I would return it. It's not underwear. |

Just return it. Some of you are insufferable thinking everything in a store has never been touched by another human.
It's a necklace, not a swimsuit bottom. |
| Good grief people are weird. Return it without a second thought. |
There is a difference between “defective” and “I didn’t like it.” I think people have gotten so used to shopping online with unquestioned returns that they’ve lost common sense. If you’re shopping in person, you need to know the return policy and make sure you are happy with the item if they don’t accept returns. In the case of a defective item I think it would be fine to ask, and the store would be smart to take it back. |
