Moral dilemma over a necklace?

This. Did you tell them you wore it out all day and couldn't get it to sit right?

Today I learned that people don't clean/wipe off new jewelry before wearing it. I am wondering if the people concerned about oils and sweat wash all their clothes before wearing them? I sure hope so!!

If that is the case, the store should take it back since it is not usable for the purpose of wearing it as a necklace.

I wouldn’t lie about having worn it, but I would make it clear that it was being returned because it was defective and wouldn’t lie right, regardless of how you tried to adjust it.

Or that it was a gift for your daughter and she didn’t like it. Easy.

If it were from a local store or artisan I would keep it and give it away, but since it sounds like it's some made in China and purchased for 6 bucks before markup at Ann Taylor or wherever I would return it without a second thought. I really don't cate about these places bottom line and a $45 dollar necklace isn't going to move the needle. They'll probably throw it in the trash or a box for liquidation. People return used makeup to Sephora all the time and theu jusy ditch it; big stores bake returns into their business and pricing models.

People acting like someone having worn a necklace for an hour is akin to sharing underwear need to get a grip.

OP were you beyond the return date?

You went to an event in it. You wore it. Don't be that person who then returns a worn item.

Be real you used it. Its yours now.

Not a chance I'd be trying to scam the cashier like that.

And those people who like, "just lie" are the problem too.

I think OP was also beyond the return by date and just doesn’t want to include that fact in the opening

Feel free to return.

I do wonder how the people concerned about body oils function in life. Do they touch doorknobs?

Or try on bras - that obviously other women have tried on? Absurd. OP, definitely return. It’s not underwear or a swimsuit, for crying out loud.

Return to a different location.

And today I learned that some people worry about this stuff. It never in a million years would have dawned on myle to clean jewelry before wearing NOR to worry if someone else has worn a necklace before me. Weird.
