How they talk about Alice I mean! |
Example??? |
I suspect Paul’s daughter will move to LA instead. |
The adults are always talking about their sex lives around her. |
Nope. Tonight’s episode showed the house packed and Julie and Paul moving. No word though if Julie will be working in CT. |
|
I feel like it's gotten darker and sadder this season.
I don't think Paul's move OR Alice at Wesleyan will "stick." There will be reasons to come back to California. I found it interesting that in this week's episode, everyone is plotting an adventure. (Except Jimmy.) |
Indeed, it’s really annoying that they never addressed her job and whether she’s OK with moving. |
|
I certainly hope Paul will regret the move and be back next season. He’s my favorite character on the show.
Seems like everyone is leaving Jimmy behind in some way. I hope he’s not going to be spiraling like way back when Shrinking first began. |
They are definitely setting it up for Jimmy to feel completely abandoned in the next episode. Paul is gone, his dad left, Alice is leaving, Sean is moving out of the pool house, Brian and Charlie are going to Tennessee for the summer, Liz and Derek are going on a big European vacation, and Gabby is launching a business (and ousting Jimmy from his office I think?). So he's going to be ALONE. And he's in a bad place mentally after dealing with his dad's abuse and criticism, and then feeling like Paul doubled down on it (too bad Jimmy couldn't see Paul standing up for him to his dad). I pretty much hate watch this show at this point (I just find it ridiculous and the way therapy/therapists are portrayed is alarming) but now I'm stressed something bad is going to happen and Jimmy will wind up in the same place he was at in the very first episode of the series (on a bender, prostitutes in his pool, totally out of it). |
Sex is repugnant and should only be spoken about, if at all, in hushed and guilty tones. |
Now c'mon. I have an 18 yr old daughter and I'm not going to talk about my sex life (which is different from talking to her about sex in general, birth control, etc.) in front of her, and certainly not in front of her friends. |
| This show has gotten worse as the seasons go on. |
lol that got us, too. I guess the plot couldn’t accommodate Jimmy driving her to travel team tournaments around the west coast all the time? Or the writers just had no clue (like they seem to have little clue about therapy). |
NP. This is where I was at the start of season 3 and it’s only gotten worse. Everyone seems so … smug about themselves, even as they mess up patients’ lives. They just dropped that plot line about how Jimmy basically gave that woman permission to shove her husband off a cliff, nothing to see here. No way would Alice or Jimmy befriend the guy who killed their mother/wife, no way would Alice be recruited from high school, and no way would half that practice not lose their licenses. But they think they’re so great, guys! Michael J Fox and Ted McGinley are the best things about this season, but it’s a DNF for us. Loved Ted Lasso though. Maybe it’s time to watch the Peaky Blibders movie, which you guys say is also terrible, if only for closure. |

Finale this week (graduation last week felt like a finale to me?) and renewed for season four.
Don’t worry, “Shrinking” fans: Jimmy, Gabby and the rest of the gang will be back for Season 4. “Shrinking” wraps its Season 3 this week on Apple TV with what creator Bill Lawrence has said ends a three-season arc about grief, forgiveness and moving forward. That’s why, in an April 4 post on social media, Lawrence promised “a completely new story next year” that he said felt “scary/risky/fun.” In a follow-up, he added that Season 4 would be “a new story with the same cast.” https://au.variety.com/2026/tv/news/shrinking-season-4-same-cast-story-reboot-time-jump-34974/ |
