Shrinking Season 3

We enjoy the Shrinking, and have laughed out loud during every one of them. Hate that I have to wait a week to watch the next episode

I don't love it, but I'll stick with it. I thought this episode was pretty good for Jason Segel. His singing was funnier than Michael Urie's, and Harrison Ford's face in the back seat was hilarious.

I really don't like Sean's girlfriend.

I don’t like Sean’s girlfriend either. I hate that everyone’s telling him to go for it with her when he’s rightfully pointed out that she likes the 19yo version of him and he’s matured, etc.

I agree and think a lot of the therapy advice in this show is actively bad. I also think a lot of the writing for the female characters is very hit or miss. Like the neighbor is aggravating and gabby is often also very irritating (although I like the actor).

The confrontation and night swimming…excellent music to begin and end the episode

I also don’t like Sean’s girlfriend, but she’s there to challenge him, so I see where they are going.

The characters are sometimes over the top, but dang I love this show.

But she's challenging him in a terrible way. He matured, and while I DO think it would be great for him to break out of his comfort zone, it should be with someone mature and smart, not someone who seems like a 20something version of Summer.

Tonight’s episode was great. This show is very much turning into a show about everybody and their dads like Ted Lasso was, with all that’s good and bad about that.

You do know it comes out on 9pm Tuesdays right?

The singing was great! It reminded me of a carpool karaoke or some show where the people were singing One Day More (I think? also from Les Miz) and of course they were all theatre kids and knew everything and kind of ad hoc picked the parts. Anyone know WTF I'm remembering?!

Anyone else not love Meg? It’s not the character, it’s the actress that bothers me, especially her hair!

What was up with the loud off backing music, though? It would have been better if it had no music on it.

I saw Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris do the same bit on a talk show once (NPH doing the bit Urie did on the show).

One Day More is featured in one of the famous SNL sketches from when John Mulaney hosted - maybe Lobster in the Diner?

I very much want to discuss what happened at the end of this week's episode regarding Maya, but don't want to spoil anyone who hasn't yet watched (which I'm guessing might be a lot of people following this thread, since no one else has posted this week). So I'm holding off but please watch because I have thoughts to share and want to hear what others think!

Found it! But I freaking love every one of John Mulaneys NYC musicals on SNL too!

Yes will be interesting to see how Gabby handles this. Likely changing future career plans she was just talking about.
