Shrinking Season 3

I am a solid Gen-xer who loved watching Friends and Sex in the City in my 20's (and early 30's). Completely unrealistic-nobody really worked, awesome places to live and everyone just hung out all day at various places being friends. This reminds me of that and it's just a feel-good type of vibe that I need right now with all the outside shit with smart characters who have really good chemistry.

The show is wildly unrealistic but Harrison Ford is really good in it (Ted McGinley is also a scene stealer). The main character is the least likable person on the show.

True on all counts. HF, Ted McG and Jessica Williams make the show for me. HF certainly getting a meaty storyline this season, will be Emmy bound for sure.

The season premiere was sooooo funny.

The ads going around know present the show as centered on Harrison Ford and Michael J Fox.

Well the pilot does, for sure. Unclear if MJF appearance was a one-off or will be recurring.

I meant premiere episode.

I hate, hate, hate Christa Miller and her horrible plastic surgery, though. Boy did she luck out snagging Bill Lawrence who keeps creating role after role for her.

I have loved Christa Miller since being dr Perry's wife in Scrubs. She was so mean and now she's still kinda whiny and mean and spoiled. It's just perfect for her. I don't notice plastic surgery but her face goes with her character. I love her voice. I still remember the line last season where she said "I still ovulate" - it was hilarious and so perfect for her, for that role.

This is a show I'd love to watch with my teenage kids but don't because of the dialogue. I don't get it. Bill Lawrence clearly knows how to do this without the language - see Cougar Town, which this show (and its relationships) clearly draws from.

I hear you. My teen loves the show but I’m a bit uneasy letting them watch it. So far I’ve explained some things and other times I let them go over DC’s head.

I agree! I like many things about this show. Episode one of season 3 made me laugh out loud a few times, which isn't always the case. But Liz is HAAAARRRRD to watch with her plastic surgery and her gross dialogue. And Gabby is naturally funny -- they don't need to give her such vulgar lines.

For me, Christa Miller will always be the 90s girl on the Drew Carey show who absolutely carried off those little micro A-line mini zip skirts that I was able to wear in a very particular part of my working life where I was Ally McBeal adjacent.

I thought for a bit that Treat Williams was in this show until I found out it was Ted McGinley and that he is very much still alive.

I love Gaby's clothes in that they flesh out her character's personality

Shrinking and Somebody, Somewhere are very much needed repositories of kindness in programming for me

Thanks for the memory lane PP!
I was that aesthetic too. I miss that so much (and my previous size!). My skirts were never as short as Ally McBeal's! Those were such good times and the internet was good back then.

Yesterday's episode (in particular the intro and conclusion) were the best things ever in my book. I don't know who they convinced to include several minutes of the Valjean-Javert duet but holy crap. Was maybe the best thing I've ever watched (I realize I am in a tiny minority here). And then to end with Jason Segal singing Nightswimming???

I hadn’t heard Nightswimming in years and even watched all the credits just to listen to more of it. The duet was really unexpected but amazing.

To me, the dialogue isn’t as good this season, but I’m hanging onto my Apple TV subscription just to finish out the season.

Well I have loved her since The Drew Carey show!
